Chloe's POV

It's coming to the end of my barbecue and I've had a fantastic time! There were no arguments or there wasn't an awkward atmosphere. But most of all, Maddie and Nick did not try to talk to me! Well, once everyone had left, there was only me, my mom, dad, Clara, Kenzie...and Maddie.

"Come on Clara let's go get you a drink. Hun, can you take them home now? You know where they live don't you?" My mom said as she picked up my sister. My dad nodded and beckoned us to take a seat in the car.

I was dreading it. My dad also whispered to me I have to sit in the back with my 'friends' because I started to open the front car door. I gave him puppy dog eyes but was not having it. I huffed as I closed the car door and opened the other, where I see Kenzie and Maddie. Luckily I don't have to sit next to her, because Kenzie is tin the middle seat. My father turned on the engine as we all put our seat lets on. Once we were securely in our seats, my dad set off in the direction of their house. There was an awkward silence in the car. I didn't think there would be because of Kenzie not knowing but I think she's figured it out. I was in my own daydream, staring out the window, looking at the neighbour hood and locals walking their pets.

My dad felt the tension in the car, and asked Maddie and Kenzie how they are getting on at dance.

"Good. I've won about ten more awards...yeah..." Maddie said snobbish, but then drifting off realising nobody actually gives a toss. That was the end of the conversation. I just was trying to think of an excuse to leave the car but I couldn't think of any good ones. I thought of trying to be healthy and walk there, but then I realised my dad wouldn't let me because the time I had walked there, they would be in their personal lives, doing homework or in the shower. Then that gave me an idea of saying I had some homework due in on Monday, but I could just wait until they are dropped off.

This went on for a good 10 minutes.

"I know. Let's play I spy!" My dad exclaimed as we all huffed at the idea but went along with it anyway.

"I spy with my little eye...something beginning with...w!" Kenzie explained as we all started guessing.

"Window?"

"Nope."

"Wellies,"

"nope."

"Wheel?"

"Correct, your go Chloe!"

After a while it was Maddie's go. She spent about a minute (what felt like a hour) thinking about what she was gonna say. At last she spoke.

"Eye spy with my eye.. A LORRY COMING OUR WAY! Aaah!" She said with her finger pointing ahead of her with a worried expression on her face.

I looked forward to see a huge red lorry coming straight at us! In a split second, my dad screwed up his face and swerved the wheel to the right, crashing through a fence leading into a field. It was a steep hill and my dad's brakes couldn't stop the car in time! We ended up going straight into a tree! Everybody jerked forwards in their seat wacking their heads and getting forced back by the seatbelt and as my eyes start to close, I see the airbag shoot into my dads face hitting the head rest.

Everything turned black.
