I know I shouldn't have ran out on Will like I did. But it was getting late. Persephone was sure to be home by then. I didn't want to see her angry at me for coming home late.
I cursed when I saw her car in the driveway. I quietly snuck in through the front door and started lightly going up the stairs. I knew the seventh one squeaks so I stepped over it. I was at the top step, only a few feet from my room.
"Where have you been?"
A voice I hated asked. I stopped dead in my tracks and turned to face her.
"I-I was working on a group project. At my classmate's house" I stuttered.
"Do you know what time it is?" She screeched.
"I-I know. I'm sorry. I didn't-" I tried to explain.
"I don't want to hear your stupid excuses!" She slapped my cheek. The noise it rung through my ears.
"Go to your room, you inconsiderate pest!" She yelled at me.
I ran the few feet to my room and shut the door and locked it. I crumpled to the floor, holding my hand to my stinging cheek. She hadn't hit me in a while. I had forgotten how much her slaps hurt.
//Trigger over//
I got up and went over to my bed. My phone buzzed. I assumed it was Jason and Percy texting me again. I ignored the constant vibrations of my phone and laid on my bed. I drifted off to sleep.
~~~~~~next morning~~~~~~~~~~~
I woke up early for school and started getting ready. As I combed my hair my phone buzzed. It was Jason and Percy again. I scrolled up and read the texts from last night.
(A/N it is way too hard to switch from font to font and I'm lazy so texting is gonna be initials then what they say)
P: bro Nico
J: we need to speak with you
P:yes
J: we heard you and Will have been hanging out
P: yeah apparently you and him are pretty good friends
J: aNd WE SHiP iT SO HaRd oMgG
P: JASON SHUT UP WITH UR FANBOYING BRO THIS IS SERIOUS J: SORRY BRO
P:anyway
J: we just want to make sure he didn't hurt you
P: and doesn't hurt u
J: and we want to know if u like him
P: yeah
J: we also want u to respond already gosh darn it
P: weren't they hanging out today?
J: yeah actually
P: so what if they are together right now
J: they better not be canoodling
P: mhm
J: well we can text him in the morning
I swear I'm going to kill them one day.

P: 5 more minutes jace
J: BRO we must talk about Will and Nico

N: I'm going to kill you guys
J: ah hello
P: FINALLY
N: ugh
J: u were with Will, correct?
P: did you canoodle?
N: we didn't do anything bad
J: ok good
J: WAIT SO YOU DID SOMETHING GOOD
P: protective mama bear Jason mode has been activated
J: shut up bro this is serious
N: ugh
J: what did you two do?????
N: worked on the project
P: and?
N: will tripped because he's an idiot and he fell on top of me
J: haha smooth solace
N: and we were really close
J:OMDJSBSHSBSJ PERCY ARE YOU SEEING THIS
P: Jason is Nico and Will trash #1
J: YES DID YA KISS?
N: no
J: WUT NO
N: maybe
P: AHH
J: YES YES SHIP AHIP KANHA
N: we will talk about this at school
J: YES I NEED THE DETAILS
P: me TOO THE SHIP IS SAILING JACE
I put my phone in my pocket and headed out the front door to my bus. I took a seat in the back next to Jason and he practically tackled me.
"Bro! I can't believe you two-"
"Shhh keep it down I don't want everybody to know" I cut him off.
"Right sorry" he said much quieter.
We eventually arrived at school and met our friends by the benches near the cafeteria. Percy spotted us and ran over, grabbing my shoulder and jumping.
"NICONICONICO GIVE ME THE DETAILS" He yelled excitedly.
"Shut up!" I smacked his arm
"Right sorry, keep it in the closet." He smirked.
"I hate you" I sighed.
"Ok can you please tell us what happened?" Jason cut in
"Like I said, he fell on top of me and... you know.." My voice trailed off and I looked down.
"So you two kissed?" Jason questioned. I nodded hesitantly. Percy squealed and Jason grinned.
"I knew it!" Percy proclaimed. I rolled my eyes. "So what happened after?"
"Uh..I..um..I sort of...maybe...left him.." I mumbled.
"YOU WHAT?" Jason looked shocked.
"It was getting late and I had to get home or Persephone would be really mad so I just left and I didn't explain anything then I forgot to text him and oh my god he probably hates me! What did I do?" I rambled, panicking.
"Woah, bro, chill, he won't hate you but you should probably talk to him or at least text him." Jason tried to calm me down.
Percy leapt in to help "Yeah, tell him how you had to leave because it was late. So he doesn't think you hate him."
"But what if he doesn't want to talk to me? What if he does hate me? What if he doesn't even actually like-" Jason cut off my frantic rant.
"Bro, he won't hate you. It'll be fine. He'll understand." I let out a breath I didn't realize I was holding.
"Thanks, Jace."
"Speaking of Will," Percy started, "here he comes."
"What?" I ask while spinning around, sure enough, there was Will, walking towards us.
"Hey" he greeted us.
"Hey" I muttered.
"Sup" Percy said while Jason nodded once in acknowledgement.
"Yo Perce, I think Leo is trying to get our attention we should go over to him." Jason said winking at me while he grabbed Percy's arm.
"What? I didn't see him-" Jason hit him.
"Oh! Yeah, well bye guys" He waved and left with Jason. That bastard.
"So..." Will awkwardly broke the silence.
"I'm sorry." I blurted out.
Will raised an eyebrow in question. "For what?"
"For leaving you so suddenly yesterday. I was worried my stepmother would be mad if I was late." I explained.
"It's fine, I get it." Will smiled. "At first I was a little upset, or I guess more...worried and anxious but then I guessed you were just late."
"Oh. Why were you upset?"
He looked down and bit his lip slightly before answering.
"Because I thought you were mad or something, and that you uh...didn't like...you know" He trailed off.
"Didn't like what?" I questioned.
He bit his lip again. I thought it was cute when he got nervous.
"The kiss" He said quietly.
"Oh"
The bell rang.
"Uh we should get to class" He said.
"Yes, right. But Will," he looked at me, I continued, "I did uh..I liked it yeah" I finished quickly. He grinned at me.
"Me too."
With that we headed to class.
