Playing by the coast of uncharted seas made this place more thrilling, but here nothing was unnoticed. It bored me. I wanted something to excite me and make me smile until the end of time.
The breeze blew quickly as the waves crashed over my bare feet.
The scent of the sea was around me.
I'll wait here until I see him again. I promised him.
Four years ago, a boy had saved me. His smile mischievous and charming. His unruly black hair. His eyes a piercing light blue that made my heart skip a beat.
His eyes haunting me over the past 4 years. I want him here again. He was the only person who made my life interesting and now he is either never coming back or is trying desperately to find me.
I was only twelve at the time I first met him and yet I knew he was more to me than a boy. I don't know why, but I love him.
-----------------------------------------------------------Little over four years ago
I was minding my own business and then everything started to change around me.
I was surrounded by pirates and thieves. My father warned me many times to steer clear of the shoreline on the far end of our village.
"You're awfully young to be wandering around here by yourself, little girl." One of them said his grin was sickening. He touched my arm and I pulled it away from him.
I began to run for it and then one of them tugged on my long ebony hair. I wanted to continue running.
"She's a lively one, why don't we take her with us?" Another one of them said with dubious intent. "She'll fetch a fine price,"
I should have listened to my father and now I'm going to be taken by these ruffians.
No. I refuse to go. I looked for the small knife I had been given when I would whittle with wood at the carpenter's shop. I cut through the part of my hair he had gripped. I began running again.
They chased behind me and quickly gaining on me.
I tripped on the skirt of my dress and fell to the ground onto the sand. I tried get to my feet quickly, but one of them had caught up. He gripped my arm and I tried to attack with the small knife. He caught my wrist and he was eyeing down my dress. A smug grin creeping across his face.
"Let her go," I heard an unfamiliar voice say. I looked at its owner.
He was no doubt older than me. His short black hair didn't even blow in the breeze. His eyes like the cold blue ocean. He had broad shoulders and he looked like he was a soldier.
The man holding onto me didn't relinquish his hold. "What will you do, if I don't," he was being smug and overconfident.
I moved fast kicking him in the shin. He still wouldn't let go and I knocked my head back finally his hold broke. I ran from his reach and got a good distance away from him.
The boy didn't move to help me, but gave me an opening. "Seems she doesn't want your company." The boy was grinning mockingly at the pirate. The pirate was rejoined with his compatriots. "Ganging up on a little girl is like asking for war," the boy's voice scrutinizing them. "I'd leave, if you want to keep your life,"
Why did he sound so angry? This is the first time we met. He was a total stranger. I've never seen him in the village which meant he came from another one.
The pirate laughed at him and I looked at the boy worried he'd get hurt because of my folly. I hoisted the skirt of my dress so it hung on one side. The lot of them were staring at my slender legs and I glared at them repulsed. Pirates were all the same, a bunch of perverted thieves.
I don't want some boy to save me without helping. He didn't turn to look, but he stepped foreword and the pirates noticed him moving toward them.
"I'll handle the brat, you grab the girl," the pirate ordered his compatriots.
The boy looked calm, but I was freaking out in the inside. He was silent. Before any of the pirates could get passed him, he cut them with a black blade.
It was seconds before one of them fell clutching his throat as scarlet blood weeped from his throat. The pirates looked astonished and we're wondering when he grabbed his sword.
They ran. "We'll get ya for this, brat," the pirate called back.
The boy sheathed his sword and turned to me. His cheeks blushed instantly. He quickly looked away from me. "You should put your skirt down,"
I had forgotten about that. I unknotted it and it fell back down. I was lightly blushing at my embarrassing display. "Thank you," I said sweetly.
He finally looked at me. His eyes only looking at mine. He was surprised I would thank him. "Not a problem, but what were you thinking?"
I didn't answer.
"Next time, you won't get lucky, " he said it sarcastically and it annoyed me a little.
"Then why did save me at all?" I asked watching for a reaction.
"Because you were in trouble." That was vague. He was gorgeous and yet surly. "Why didn't you run when saw the blood?"
I was not afraid of it. I was surrounded by warring countries. "It is a natural thing. I just don't see why you should be afraid of it."
He sighed and then smiled at me. "What's your name?" He asked it in such a pleasant tone.
I smiled back, it was hard not to. His smile was contagious. "It's Elezana. Nice to meet you,"
-----------------------------------------------------------Those days seem to fly by and I never forgot him. He had been on my mind for 4 years.
I never asked his name because I believed he would come back some day. He promised me he would before I was married off to another man.
I'm still waiting for him.
Thanks for reading it. I am experimenting with this. Let me know what you think. Can't wait to write the next chapter.
