POV: Ares

Elezana had fallen asleep with her body curled up by mine. She was silent while she slept and I watched her slightly turn in her sleep. She was just as beautiful as when she was awake.

I was bothered by the fact another man had touched her smooth skin and tried to hurt her. I moved gently from her and let her rest. She had been through more than I had thought in the past 4 years.

I grabbed my shirt and walked quietly out of the room.

Elezana had to have been so afraid and I wasn't there to protect her when she needed me two years ago.

I glanced back at her lying on the bed. Her long wavy ebony hair was laid next to her and her slender frame was covered by the gray silk sheets. Seeing her lying at peace made me want to continue to lie with her, but I need to know what she meant about the red aura she saw around me and unfortunately, I needed to talk to Athena. She was good at this kind thing.

I went out into the halls of Mount Olympus and I carried myself quickly through the halls. I felt so unsure leaving Elezana by herself, but I knew she had eyes for me. I want to know what she sees, but why had I never heard her say anything about that ability of hers bothered me more. I always thought she was odd when I asked her why she didn't run from me, but her seeing that red aura told me all I needed to know.

I felt strangely concerned by this and it irritated me that she didn't tell me, but I still loved her. She looked so afraid to tell me about 2 years ago and I felt like keeping her hidden even more than before from my family.

I saw Athena in the garden over by the apple tree. Athena was older than me, but she had a good head on her shoulders and she always seemed to have her head in a book. Her short caramel brown hair cut short about the nape of her neck and I walked over to her. She peered up from her book as if noticing me and then went back to reading her book. Her amber eyes were like brown honey.

"Thena, can I ask you something?" I asked a little desperate.

She put her book down and looked at me. "You hardly ask me for anything, little brother, but do as you wish," She said with a light interest in her tone.

"It's about auras," she nodded for me to go on. "Can mortals see them from a young age?"

"What brought you to that conclusion?" She asked prompting for more information. I didn't answer, but she sighed dramatically. "Normal mortals can't see auras, but there are few who can. Why the sudden question, I get the feeling this has to do with your wife,"

She's as sharp and straightforward as always. "She can see them and I was wondering if that would be enough to tell her anything about what each color meant and in relation to herself."

Athena looked a little worried and if she was concerned, then so should I be. "I'll look into it, but I wouldn't leave her by herself. She hasn't been in any trouble lately," I looked away and she knew. She picked up her book and opened it skimming through the pages. When she paused, I felt my heart race a little. "That's very peculiar,"

I looked at her more concerned for Elezana now then I was when she told me about 2 years ago. "What is it, Thena," I asked and she looked up at me with blank eyes.

"She's not mortal by any means, maybe half, but Ares you need to stay with her," She stood up and laid a hand on my shoulder. "She's a dark faery, they can see auras, but they are very attached to a certain color which is always rare. You need to protect her, little brother. Many dark faeries have been eradicated because of one man's desire to take their freedom." Athena's voice was drilling this into my head and it felt like I hardly knew anything about Elezana, but what if she didn't know about this? "Ares there is a possibility you can lose her. There is a man who would die to get his hands on her if he found her and I can only assume she has powerful magic. If someone figures out how to reveal her wings, they can take her freedom from her."

"How would I-," I started and Athena let go of my shoulder.

She was gazing into my eyes intensely. "Every faery has a a point on their bodies that is vulnerable to touch. Have you seen her wings, if so you need to know what color they are to be certain about her being a dark faery. Remember the colors, gray, black, brown, and any dark shades of the other colors means she is a dark faery, a fey."

"What can I do?" I asked her as she went back to her place under the tree. She looked at me with annoyance.

"There's not much you can do, but be at her side as much as you can," She started reading her book again and then I felt another question I wanted to ask her.

"Thena, what if she sees the color red,"

She was quiet and then sighed. "Depending on the person she's with, they would be her true lover. It usually happens when they first see it. It builds a desire to be by that person's side and a bond will eventually form, but it can be broken by someone with another strong aura, making the decision harder for her." She flipped the page and my mind was imagining all kinds of bad things happening to Elezana and it irritated me. "The aura's color is still a mystery, but if I had to guess, I would say there isn't an aura at all."

I was surprised though I didn't show it on my face. I was about to run back to Elezana with this. She needed to know about it.

"Ares, there's one more thing," I kept my eyes on Athena. "That point sensitive to touch is usually connected to a strong memory from the faery's past. Finding that point will be difficult if you don't know what you are looking for. Sometimes it's a painful memory or a joyous one, but sometimes it is based on the faery's personality."

"Thanks, Thena," She waved one hand at me and I began running back to Elezana.

I knew I had a bad feeling about this. I just knew something was wrong. I won't leave Elezana alone like four years ago, I can't afford to. I love her and if that meant keeping her here in Olympus, then so be it.I I won't let another man lay a finger on her and strip away her freedom from her. I didn't care about her being a faery because that meant she was more than a mortal girl I met.

Elezana, I promise I will protect you.

I hope you enjoyed it, Ares is really rattled by this. The fact Elezana can see auras makes him uneasy and possessive, but he has her best intentions at heart. I hope it is a little more clear about Ares feels about her and how he really wants to protect her. As a side note, by stripping her freedom, I mean her ability fly as well as her magic will fade from her. The next chapter is...it's a secret, but I will write it very soon. Until next chapter, Thank you.
