I woke up with a start. My eyes fluttered as my memories from the previous days shot back into my mind. I groaned and layed down again.
"Oh! You're up!" A familiar voice called. I glanced to the side of me to see Ava, sitting beside me.
"Yep..." I mumbled
She looked at me up and down, "You remeber anything?" She raised an eyebrow.
"Not much, to say the least." I said, sitting up again, "Whydya ask?"
"Well..." She said, fidgeting with her thumbs.
I glared at her, "What did you do?"
"OH! Nothing bad... I mean, look you're completely fine-"
"Just tell me what happened." I sighed, cutting her off from her ramble.
"Well, this morning I gave you some of my tacos and I hadn't realized that there was a sedatice in the ingrediants a-"
"Wait wait wait wait... there was a sedative in the ingrediants?" I asked. She shrugged her shoulders before finally nodding. "Oh jeez..." I said, laying down.
"Well I wasn't my fault, I always cook with those tacos! I ju-" I cut her off by putting my hand in the air.
"It's fine, it's fine!" I said, sitting back up. "Let's just check next time we make something." Ava nodded sheepishly as she helped me to my feet.
Ava looked at me. "Ermm.. I was going to go out today and I can't exactly take you with me..."
"Well why not?" I asked, pulling the blanket which was on the ground around my shoulders.
"Uh, well you see, tonight just happens to be the summer solstice." I raised an eyebrow in confusion.
"What does that have to do with anything?"
"On the night of the summer solstice, it's a tradition to always wear your pershla in honor of the towns founder. It's a gift given to you when you were born, and you don't have one."
" Couldn't we go buy one?"
" It doesn't exactly work like that, Shilla. Like I said, it's a gift from when you were born, and it's considered disrespectful if you don't wear one. I don't want you to be shamed today." She gave me a sympathetic smile. " But hey, you've got Mimi to keep you company!" I sighed.
" Oh boy..."
