"Come on Y/N! We are going to be late to the park!"

"Alright! Give me a second," you replied from your bedroom where you sat on your bed, holding a small metal robot in your hands. You messed with the wires whilst your legs dangled off the side of your bed, your loose socks half fallen off of your foot.

"Hurry Y/N!" Your mother called from downstairs. Frowning in disappointment, you set it on your bedside table and ran down the stairs to where your mother waited.

"Oh your hair is a mess and you have no shoes. Go find your boots and i'll get the stuff for your hair." Your mother said kindly as you ran off down the hall to where the library was. You stopped in the doorway and pouted your lips, looking around.

Gasping in delight, you ran over to where your beanbag lay, with your small shoes. You grabbed them and hurried out of the room, being aware that if you ran too fast you would slip because of the lack of grip your cotton socks had on the polished floors. Running up to your mum with a big smile, you shoved your shoes in front of you looking up at her with wide eyes. She smiled and grabbed them whilst your sat on the floor, kicking your left leg out so she could put the shoes on.

"Good girl, once we're there be on your best behaviour," she said looking at you, strapping the velcro on your shoes. You nodded with a wide, toothy smile.

You arrived, tugging at your knitted cotton sweater that was baggy at your wrists. You also wore your scruffy shoes you loved too much to rid of since it was a gift from your father who now works in America on a military based program.
You also wore white leggings and a small fluffy party skirt. Your hair was let out (It it's short just do whatevs ^^).
You were tugging at your sleeves as your mother talked to her friend from fifth grade, who had a boy about your age of ten, standing next to her, watching you with wide, curious eyes.

The air around the bark covered playground was cool, the sun high up in the sky, dogs barking and the occasional bird whistle

The boy had scruffy blond hair and warm amber eyes. He had a crooked smile when he smiled at his mum when she said something and ruffled his hair.
You glanced up at him.

"Hey," you whispered over to him.
"What?" He replied with a small grin.
"Wanna play tag?"
The boy was silent, the wind whipping at your hair gently.

He nodded, and you stuck your tongue out at him before dashing to the playground. You made a run for the plastic slide. Taking off your shoes by hooking your toes onto the back of them and pulling your feet out. Rolling up your baggy sleeves you ran for the slide, taking off your socks in the process for better grip. You climbed up at a tremendous speed and heard the boy yell

"I'm on my way!"

It echoed over the empty playground as the sun was high up behind the pine trees that scattered the terrain with eucalyptus and gum trees paired with them. You found a small 'child proof' plastic bars that were meant to resemble jail cell bars. You looked at it, smiled a cold smile and squinted at it, looking at it to see the best route. You grinned and ran to it as the loud pattering of footsteps and hands echoed from the slide. You squeezed through and quickly climbed up to the top of the equipment that was meant to be impossible for kids your age. You knocked on the roof where a clear plastic lay, similar to a skylight.
He looked up and frowned at you in complete shock and confusion. His mouth hung open and you giggled at him, sticking your tongue out before moving away and running off of the roof jumping to a tree. You scattered up it and giggled, latching onto it like a Koala.

"Ey! Ova' hea'!" You yelled to the boy who slid down the slide.

"No fair! you can climb," he said looking up at your from the bottom of the tree.

"I'll teach you?" you said with a devilish grin. He frowned at you before nodding giddily.
"CATCH ME" You yelled as you jumped into his arms. He emitted a loud squeal as you flattened him.

"You're fat," he said, shoving you off.

"Hardly" you replied sticking your tongue out. His shoulders slumped in defeat.

"I'm y/n, you?" You asked, holding out your hand to shake.

"Jamison," He replied and shook it.

---

"Come on y/n! We need to go now!" Your mother called

"You too Jamison it's dinner time!" His mother called, standing up. You both looked at each other as the two of you stood under your 'training tree' which was a old pine tree. He smiled at you.

"Thanks for teaching me! I wanna have a play-date with you soon. I'll ask my mum" He said, dashing off. You giggled and ran after him. "Mum, Mum! Can we have a play-date soon?" Jamison begged his mother who just smiled at your mum before looking back at him.

"please? I can teach him how to build stuff like mini robots!" You said rocking back and forth on your ankles, fidgeting with the long sleeves that made their way back down to your wrists during the climbing session. His mother laughed and nodded. Jamison looked at you with a large smile and closed eyes.

"I can't wait" he said opening his arms. You giggled and jumped into them, squeezing him as hard as you could. Which was just enough to shorted his breaths a bit. Your mother smiled and nudged you, nodding to the car as she walked over to it. You let go of Jamison and smiled at him.

"By Jam, I'll see you later!" you said as he giggled at the nickname.

"So I'm named after a spread now?"

"Yep! strawberry or orange jam?" You asked bouncing on the spot.

"Hmm, I don't know, I'll answer with the robots!" He said as you smiled happily at him.

"Bye bye!" you said, waving and ran over to your mother who was waiting at the door, looking at his mum with a playful look. "what?" you asked, tilting your head.

"Oh nothing... just had a thought," she said. Pinching your nose playfully before opening the car door, letting your climb in to be belted up. You looked over your mothers shoulder as Jamison stood there on his toes waving to you with a toothy smile. His dusty white shirt raised at the hip where the arm was lifted high and his scruffy yellow denim shorts hung loosely around him. You smiled as the door closed, watching your mother get in the seat in front of you, igniting the car, you two of you drove away back home for dinner and bed.
