It Could Be More

Chapter 1

He had been my friend for as long as I could imagine. Growing up around him made him and I grow close over the years and soon we were practically inseparable. He was always there for me and always supported me. Sure, he was a bit of an asshole and sometimes even I couldn't stand him, but he was my best friend and he was the only person I could truly trust.

"Maddie..?" I snap back into reality and I look over at Nicholas, his brown eyes burning into mine. "Wait what?" I ask and look at the expression of disbelief on his face. "You didn't hear anything I just said, did you?" I smiled innocently and looked away "No, of course I did, I just zoned out for a minute or two." He smirks and rolls his eyes. "Whatever, we have to get to school anyways."

~10 minutes later~
His car pulled into the closest parking spot we could get and I hopped out of the car. He got out on his side and then started walking for the entrance as he grabbed my arm and dragged me along. "I'm slow, not helpless." I tease him and he just looks back at me and smiles. "Want to bet?" Out of nowhere he picks me up over his shoulder and I'm left squealing and hitting his back. "Let me go!" I laugh and he finally lets me down as we enter the school. "Maybe pick up the pace," He winks and then runs his hand through his brown hair. "I'll see you after class, loser." He says and playfully squeezes my side.

~After School~
I walked over to his car waiting for him, he was weirdly taking longer than usual. I suddenly get a little mad and walk back inside walking to the principals office, without knocking I walked in and saw him sitting in the chair talking with Mr. Semler, the principal. My eyes locked into his and I sat in an empty chair. "Hey Sem." I smile at the principal and he just smiles back. "What did he do this time?" Mr. Semler just laughs, "Well he skipped last period, again." I roll my eyes and walk over to Nicholas and I grab the keys from his pocket. "I'll meet you in the car, troublemaker." I poke him in the side as he done to me and I walked back to his car, hopping in and getting on my phone to go through social media. About a half hour later he finally came out and got in the drivers seat. I handed him the keys and smirked over at him. "Why'd you skip last period?" I asked him. "Was it your mom again?" He nodded slowly and I sighed, "Come on let's go." I turned the car on for him and he drove off.

He parked in front of my house and we both got out, "I get to choose the movie." He says and looks over at me "I'm not gonna watch anymore of your girly bullshit." I roll my eyes and laugh a little. "You can choose this time only." I smile and open the door as I run upstairs to my room, turning the tv on and the DVD player. I walk back downstairs, taking my shoes off and walking to the kitchen. "Want a snack or something to drink?" I call to him as he walks into the kitchen himself. "Do you have anymore of those cheese bite things I had yesterday?" I nod and grab the box, throwing it over to him. "Thanks Maddie." He smiles and then starts to ascend up to my room. I grab just a bottle of water and then head upstairs myself. My phone goes off and I received a text from my mom "Hey, I'm not gonna be home tonight. Work is keeping me all night long so hopefully I'll get to see you tomorrow." I sigh as I look at the text and text her back with a simple reply. Nicholas notices the look of sadness on my face and he makes me turn my head to face him. "Don't look so upset, I'll spend the night and maybe you won't feel so lonely." My face starts to light up and I nod. "Go put a movie in." I lightly shove him and he gets up and grabs a movie off my shelf and puts it in.

~A Couple Hours Later~
After watching a couple movies, I start to grow tired and obviously Nicholas did too. It was a state where I wanted to say something, but was way to worn out and tired to do so. I move my arm and grab the remote shutting off the tv and DVD player and my room turned pitch black. He laid back and pulled a blanket over him, his arm was spread out and I laid my head on it. As soon as I did he pulled me closer to him and held me close to his chest. "Goodnight Maddie." He whispered in my ear and I could feel his warm breath on my neck. I smiled and then slowly drifted off into a deep sleep.

Hey guys, I'm new at writing and obviously not that great, I was just feeling a little inspired and decided to start writing, don't be too harsh. Anyways, I'll try and update a new chapter as soon as possible and if this starts getting a lot of reads it will be more along the lines of a scheduled day for it to be posted and I'm sorry this first chapter is so short, but anyways, I hope you enjoy! 😊
