A month had gone by, everything in my life was slowly changing, nothing worth mentioning through November. We watched the parade on Turkey day through the static filled television.

And what was normally a holiday for a family was a dinner of Cherry, the two slenders, and me. Though I was slowly considering them my family as time passed.

It was December now, the streets were filled with snow and I felt frozen in places I needed. My fingertips always felt numb, the only coat I had was my black leather trench coat. Most called it the Matrix coat; I pulled on my black and orange scarf Evangeline made me when she learned how much I hated the cold.

I drove to the university with Cherry in my hearse; I had given the wheels the attachment they needed to drive safer in the snow and on the ice. Today was the day they got a new Chemistry professor. It would be the moment of truth for Cherry and me to see if they would be one of us or one of the preps.

We walked about our classes and went about the day up until lunch normally. During lunch Cherry, the science professors and I all discussed about the Christmas party we were planning during lunch before winter break started.

We made a list, a plan, and then finished eating before heading to our classes. When it came time for Chemistry, we looked at each other.

“The moment of truth.” I commented.

“Let’s hope he’s one of us.” Cherry remarked. I nodded and opened the door as we walked to our seats. The professor looked surprised to see us and closed the book he was reading.

Cherry and I relaxed in our seats, reading the name on the board. “Dr. Jekyll.” I smiled and pointed.

“Isn’t that the book you were just reading? Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde?” Dr. Jekyll looked at me and smiled.

“Yes it was, it’s my favorite book.” Cherry shot upright smiling.

“Is that how you got your name?” I pulled Cherry back down into her seat, he laughed lightly.

“Yes it is, Dr. Jekyll is my nickname I endured growing up, for both my love of the book and my love for chemistry.”

“What’s your opinion of the students so far?”

“I wish they had more of a desire to learn so far. Apparently they don’t care that, what I have to teach them is important.” Cherry grinned and looked at me, I smiled and nodded.

“What is your opinion on the haunted library here at the university?” I leaned back crossing my arms.

“There’s a haunted library?”

“Oh yes sir! But Geix and I know a password for you to get in unharmed by the spirits!”

“Really now? I would love to know it so that I might visit it.” Cherry looked at me eagerly, I looked at the teacher.

“A week before winter break, that Friday you should go. I’ll give you the password that Thursday, I suggest going during lunch. That’s when they are more accepting of visitors.” He smiled.

“Alright, I look forward to it.” Cherry and I smiled before the bell rang and the preps poured in. As the class went on Cherry and I played rule enforcer, every time someone started talking or pulled out their cell phone we threw little paper balls at them.

We waited eagerly for the day of the party, to welcome our newest member. Thursday I pulled him aside after class and whispered the password in his ear, the same one Evangeline originally had, then I left as if I had said nothing, and like everything was normal.
