I winced as I heard another twig crack under my small ungrateful body. I had been hiding behind the large overgrown thorn bush for over an hour, waiting for an unsuspecting animal to appear so I could put to use the new camera my parents had given to me last week for my sixteenth birthday.

I was concentrating on keeping my sore muscles still as I saw several large lithe bodies crash into a small clearing in the woods directly in front of me.

My eyes widened as I realized I was staring at six fully grown wolves. As I was slowly reaching for my camera, my movements halted as another large hairy body sprinted into the clearing and directly faced the other animals.

A lone wolf, and apparently the leader of the wolves, stepped forward and bared his large canine teeth to the unwelcome threat to his pack.

The two animals continued glaring at each other when, suddenly, the alpha wolf sniffed the air, let out a low growl.

The wolf leader then turned away from the rough wolf, herding his small pack back into the dark woods.

The lone wolf then raised its head, howled into the dark night then ran into a different section of the forest that his lupine brethren had run into.

I was then left alone, and realized that I, Charlotte Webber, never wanted to go into the woods at night again.
