Chapter 4

As if Logan had heard me utter those two small words, he turned his head in Andrews and my direction and gave me a smirk before he turned back to talk to his friends.

"Why did THE Logan Conners just give you that look? Care to explain that to me Charlie?" I vaguely heard Andrew ask.

"It's not important"

Was all that I responded. I could tell that Andrew didn't believe me by the look he look he gave me, but he didn't have a chance to say anything else as the teacher walked in at that exact moment.

"Hello students, my name is Mr. Johnson and I will be your pre calculus teacher for the year. Now if you could all find your way to an available seat and sit so I could start our lesson for the day."

Everyone then sat down and the class dragged on in an uneventful blur. Finally, I heard the bell ring, signaling that class was over. I quickly gathered up my belongings and practically ran to the door, completely forgetting about Andrew until I heard him call out my name.

"Charlie! Charles! Wait up!"

I waited for Andrew to catch up before I began walking down the hall again. We walked together in silence before Andrew awkwardly cleared his throat.

"Soo....are you going to tell me about what happened with Log-"

"I don't want to talk about it." I quickly responded before Andrew could even finish his sentence. The truth was that something had happened between Logan and I during our break but I definitely did not want to revisit those memories anytime soon.

"Ok." Was all that Andrew said back in response my request. I could tell that he was hurt that I didn't want to tell him what had happened but I decided not to say anything else about it.

The rest of the walk to our respective classes was in complete silence until we had to part ways, but even then we just gave each other a quick goodbye and walked away from each other.

As I entered my next class, which was physics, and sat in an empty table in the back row. I was busy doodling on a piece of paper when I felt someone pull out the chair next to me and sit down.

I turned my head to look at the person and I felt my mouth slightly open in surprise as I saw none other than Logan Conners sitting next to me. I was about to tell him to sit somewhere else when a short middle-aged woman enter the classroom.

"Hello students, and welcome back to school. I am Mrs. Borne and I will be teaching this class for the year. I hope you all like the seats you picked out this morning because they will be your assigned seats for the year. Now please introduce yourself to the person sitting next to you as they will be your partners for all of our assignments for year."

I am screwed

I thought to myself as I glanced at the teenage boy giving me a cocky smile from the seat next to mine.
