"Charlotte hurry up and get down here your going to be late!"
I quickly pried my eyes open as I heard my mom shouting from downstairs. I glanced at my alarm clock and my eyes widened as I saw the time that the bright green numbers displayed.
I let out a string of curse words as I hurriedly jumped out of bed and sprinted to my walk in closet. I pulled out the first clothes I got my hands on and wiggled into the tight pair of dark jeans and an equally dark t-shirt proudly displaying a Green Day logo on it. I threw on my worn black converse and ran a brush threw my long, light brown hair.
I looked into the small mirror that was hanging on my light purple colored wall and I saw a pair of hazel colored eyes starring back at me. I was about to apply a light coating of mascara on my eyelashes just as my mom started screaming at me again so instead I put down the small tube of mascara and ran out of my room and down the stairs.
"Finally!" said my mom as she saw me walking into the kitchen where she had been waiting for me.
"Let's go Charlotte. You don't want to be late for your first day back at school for the year."
I didn't respond to my moms comment but instead grabbed a banana from the fruit bowl on the counter and started walking toward the garage door. I got into our bright red convertible beetle, and soon after my mom followed.
We drove to my school in silence and I couldn't help thinking about what I had seen a week ago in the clearing in the woods. The wolves I had seen had somehow seemed to be human.
I was pulled from my inner conversation with myself as the car pulled up in front of my school. Carter High School.
