chapter 4: beach!!

Katarina's Pov:

"Girl! Why do you look so distracted?" Alex exclaims setting up the blanket on the sand.

It's ten o'clock and people are already flooding the beach. We're lucky we got her in time to get a good spot.

"I'm just thinking..." I sigh.

"Girl spill!" She exclaims.

"I met with Dex on Thursday. We worked on our English project. Then he kissed me..." I explain.

"Girll!!! That's a good thing!" She exclaims.

"I know but..I just got out of my relationship with Jason and he just got out of a relationship...it's too soon! An I'm meeting him tomorrow to get costumes for the project" I explain.

"Kat. He didn't ask you out. He just kissed you...I wouldn't get your hopes up though...you could be his rebound.." She sighs.

"He also told me I wasn't a rebound..." I explain.

"Well girl! You've been out of love with Jason for months! He likes you! Go for it. Take a chance. Maybe it'll surprise you!" She exclaims.

"I don't know. Still too soon!" I explain and dress down to my bikini.

"Yay! You wore the one I told you too!" She exclaims.

I roll my eyes at her and put my hair into a braid. I obviously didn't wear any makeup since we'd be swimming so.

"Okay girls! One lemonade, one iced coffee and one chocolate milkshake!" J.J exclaims walking towards us.

I grab my milkshake and slowly sip on it. I place my sunglasses on and sit on a big boulder by our spot.

I look out at the view and then look around when my eyes land on a guy in the lifeguards chair.

He's really hot.

"Yo Kat! Don't stare. He can notice!" Alex exclaims.

I blink and see the guy smiling at me. I look down at the ground blushing.

"Well go over there and talk to him!" She exclaims.

"No way! He's working!" I exclaim.

"He's looking at you. He wants to talk to you! Go!" She demands.

I sigh and make my way towards the lifeguard chair.

I look up at the stranger smiling at me.

"Hi.." I smile.

"Do you always stare at lifeguards like that?" He laughs.

I bite my lip and look down.

"No not usually.." I explain.

"I'm Katarina!" I smile.

"Grayson!" He smiles back.

He climbs down from his chair and shakes hands with me. He looks at me smiling for a minute before looking down at the ground.

"Ive never seen you here before. Are you new?" I ask.

"I actually don't really work here anymore. I just got a new job but my buddys wife is having their baby so he asked me to fill in.." He explains.

"Hmm. I love kids!" I smile.

"Me too!" He smiles.

"I don't have any but if I met someone with a kid and it worked out then I'd be happy though I'd want my own in the future!" He smiles.

"Cute!" I smile.

"We talk for a while until he has to get back up on the chair. I smile at him before retreating back to the girls.

"So?" J.J exclaims.

"His name is Grayson. His favourite color is green. He loves the beach. He likes pineapple pizza and banana pancakes...an he likes kids." I explain.

"You found that out but talking to him for fifteen minutes?" She asks.

"Yeah..." I shrug.

"Well we could definitely see the spark between you guys! I mean we don't know what he looks like cause we can't see well from over here but hopefully you two meet again!" Alex exclaims.

I laugh and lay beside them on the blanket Alex brought. I honestly hope I see him again too. I don't know what it was but we clicked...I've never felt that before.

"Okay! We've been here eight hours! Let's go!" I exclaim.

"Awe man!" Alex exclaims.

"Alex! I've got a headache. I'm sick of swimming and I just want to go home, take a nice shower, eat some home made Mac and cheese and go to sleep!" I exclaim.

"Fiiine!" She exclaims and starts cleaning up.

When I get home I headed straight for the shower and took a long an relaxing shower.

Like I told Alex I ate some Mac and cheese and then went to bed. Today was a busy day. Lots of swimming...junk food and sun. I've never been to the beach for eight hours.

I can't stop thinking about Grayson though. He was so sweet and cute and....attractive! What if I never see him again!?
