I didn't check my phone for the rest of the night. I took a long, thorough shower and went straight to bed. My brain just started thinking about the whole night. I had always been lucky enough to never have been in that sort of situation before and although I stopped him, I couldn't help but imagine what could have happened if I hadn't.
I listened to calming sounds in order to help me wind down. Eventually, I did get to go to sleep.
In the morning, I checked my phone and woke up to a few texts from Chloe and Sky, along with one from Chad.
Chad: I'm sorry
I began thinking. He realizes what he did was wrong, right? I tried to move his hands away, I obviously felt uncomfortable. It was a sign to stop, not hold tighter. Maybe he thought about it and found that I was right to leave like I did.
I debated whether I should text him back or not. I decided to make that choice later when I had already told my friends what happened. I checked the messages in our group chat.
Skyler: Oooh you guys looked so cute tonight! I bet it's going great
Chloe: Can't wait to hear all the deets
Skyler: ASAP
I thought about how I was going to tell them, if I was even going to. I couldn't just describe it over text. I could just ignore it. I mean, nothing did happen.
Naomi: It wasn't too bad
I wasn't lying when I said that; it could have been worse. I was getting lost in my thoughts when I heard a knock on my door.
"What?!" I yelled.
My brother, Jesse, peeked his head in. "Breakfast is ready, sleepyhead."
"I'll be down in a minute."
"Alright. Hey, I heard you went out last night with that Roscoe kid. How was that?" he perused.
"It wasn't anything special," I replied.
"Well you were used to top notch service. Kinda hard to top Asher."
I took a deep breath and sighed, "Thanks for that reminder, Jess. That's really what I need."
"Sorry. We'll be waiting downstairs." He closed my door and I was left feeling worse than how I was at first.
Now I was feeling melancholic and missed having Asher around. Had he not left, I would have never had to go on last night's stupid date. Deep down I knew I couldn't blame him. We just weren't meant to be together right now. He was destined to be at his dream college while I moved on with my life. There were just times where I knew he would have made me feel better, as a boyfriend or as a friend. This was one of those times.
My phone vibrated in my hand. I had a new message from Chloe.
Chloe: What happened?
Naomi: I'll explain later
For the time being, I knew my family was expecting me downstairs so I put my best face forward and got myself together. I went downstairs and had breakfast. My parents probed me on how school was going and how my friends were. I, of course, told them all was well and life was good. There was no use in worrying them over nothing.
