Amelie Jones is the new girl in school. The minute she walks into the main building of Sunset Valley High, heads are turned to the tall and fit brunette, her loose curls cascading down her back and her bangs reaching her newly-threaded brows. Her light complexion glows under the brightly-lit hallways as she struts to the guidance counselor's office.

Every classroom she walks into, boys surround her seat, and girls whisper in envy from afar. She reapplies her rose pink lip gloss and everyone seems to stare. Every single movement she makes is under the spotlight, watched by the entire student body.

At lunch, she is offered a seat in the elite table in the middle of the cafeteria, with the most popular girls in school, and the constant rotation of football and basketball players sitting with them.

Amelie Jones stands at the top of the popularity ladder, reaching the levels of the Elites of Sunset Valley High; the most beautiful, wealthy and cruel group in the whole school.

She goes home to a loving mother, a trophy wife who does Pilates and brunch every Sunday, and a protective father, who works a nine-to-five and always makes it home for dinner.

"Honey, I'm home!" he greets as he walks into the two-story family home in a middle-class suburbia. He kisses her mother and they all have dinner, with her eight-year old ballerina sister and a golden retriever, Scruffy.

A perfect girl, a perfect family.

Her English teacher announces an English project, due in a month. Every boy is shaking in their seats, waiting for their names to be called, hoping that it would be right after hers.

But they weren't chosen.

"Amelie Jones," the teacher finally speaks out. The second to last name. They all know the name coming next. The name no one wants to be associated with.

"Cassey Williams."
