The Childhood Friend
The door cracked open when Ezekiel tried to unlock it with his own strength. Danger and Eric were gone, and it was been a while from the time that they ran downstairs to look for some extra keys. His shoulder was in pain after trying for several times banging the door, Arianne’s horrific screams made him to worry more.
When the door finally burst opened, Arianne hurriedly jumped towards him and embraced him so tight. “I know you would save me,” she whispered. Her arms were circling his shoulders, her slender body pressed against him, and she wanted to kissed him right there, but Ezekiel pushed her away.
Arianne frowned from Ezekiel’s weird action.
“Where are the snakes, Arianne?” He asked.
Arianne sheepishly smiled at him while glaring her bed, wanting to say something so imaginative that he would definitely believe her. He loved her though, and she could use his love to get away from this humiliating situation.
“There was no anaconda here,” he continued. He was glad that she was alright, but it didn’t change the fact about one thing.
“I-I”, she tried but words were so damn hard to say esp. when his eyes were flickering with anger.
“We all get panic. And you just lied to us all the time?”
“Well, It was her fault,” she was referring to her stepsister, Danger. She pointed two snakes inside a jar beneath her study table. It was too small that even Ezekiel could doubt that they could make a bite so feral than her screaming a while ago.
“What an actress, huh?” Ezekiel was still mad with her drama. “Thanks for playing with us.”
“Oh c’mon, Ezy! It was just a harmless acting!” She rolled her eyes, “Why are you so mad at me?”
For an instant, Ezekiel went silent.
“Because, for the very first time, I was so mad with my bestfriend because I thought that Danger wants to kill you. And then I just find out that everything was a lie.”
“I wanted her to learn a lesson.”
“For what?”
“For being a freak,” she narrowed her eyes on him, “I don’t really don’t know what you’ve seen in her.”
“Don’t you ever say that in my face.” He was trying to hold his anger, Arianne could see that too. It was the first time that Ezekiel was in this kind of mood. He was always been the calm one. “You don’t even know her at all.”
“Of course I know her.”
“Yes you do. But you don’t know the feeling of being her.”
Ezekiel started walking downstairs to find Danger. Arianne was on his back, stamping her feet on the floor to show how much she disliked Ezekiel’s cold facade.
“Where are you going?” She asked but still, he didn’t even bother to look back.
He needed to see Danger and made an apology for what he’d done a while ago. He knew he had hurt her. It was all over her face. No wonder she went downstairs and never returned.
