Dim
Slowly going out
Like a dim star
I used to shine so bright
Now all I do is blend into the dark
But
I'm still a star
I give light
And heat
And love
So maybe I'm not that useless
But I'm dead
And I've been dead a long time
But no one notices
They just notice how
I don't shine as much anymore
Yet they just gaze as I
The dead star pretending to be alive
Gives them the light they need
Until one day
I'll stop and I'll finally be what I've been this entire time
Lifeless
Cold
Dead
