Mia's P.O.V
There was mail when I got home. The driveway was empty so Ames wasn't home either.
A white and gold envelope with initials J&K stamped on it. I could already tell that it was an invitation. One that I had a fair idea of what was needed to be done.
For one, it would mean that I'd have to go to whatever this was about.
Two, I would have to go with Ames since it was addressed to our address. Wait, did I just say 'our'? Yuck.
Three, there was a very high probability that would meet everyone else there. Everyone including Shane, Dion and the others.
Why? Because that's the way the rich work. They only invite the rich and high in society. If not all of them turn up, there was a guarantee that one of them would be there.
So, I just chucked the envelope onto the kitchen island.
I had assignments to occupy my time. And so I spent 3 hours doing that before taking a shower. Pulling on an oversize sweater, I went to the kitchen to find something to eat.
After bumping into Shane earlier, I didn't want to stay in town for long. Instead, I came straight home with an empty stomach.
There was macaroni in the pantry. Guess I'll make some mac and cheese.
It was already 8 and I noticed that Ames still hasn't showed up. Yet again, why am I not surprised. He's probably drinking somewhere.
I was coming up with many insults about Ames that I ended up bashing my food along with it.
By the time was eating. The door opened and closed.
Speak of the devil.
To my surprise, he wasn't drunk. Well, he must've not had enough drinks to get drunk.
He got a bottle of water from the fridge and sat opposite me.
I avoided his gaze and continued to eat.
"What is this?"
He was talking about the envelope.
"I don't know" I shrugged. Not wanting to discuss it or even know what it was for.
I could here him open it. Then there was silence.
"That crazy bitch" he cursed.
I looked up then.
Why was he angry?
He threw the envelope on the counter and pulled out his phone. As he got up from his seat and walked out of the kitchen.
Grabbing the envelope, I skimmed read the letter. It was a wedding invitation. And the moment I saw who was going to get married, my jaw dropped.
Jacqueline Anderson & Daniel Hawk.
Wait a second.
I shook my head and blinked twice. Before looking at the names again.
Ames has a sister?
All this time I thought he was an only child. But I guess not.
He had an older sister this time. And he does not look happy about this union.
