"GOODBYE SHE squealed, wrapping her arms around me for minutes before we let go. "Don't forget to tell me all about those two brunettes." She winked and I chuckled, realizing that within' all the chaos; I had thought about them less. But, that was all about to change as I drove along to Beacon Hills, California - to a whole new adventure.
I had hopped into the van and started to wave goodbye to my best friend, rolling down the window and screaming an 'I love you!' to her. I could feel a few tears stream down my face as my eyes started to burn. I swiped my hand across my face, trying to stop the tears from falling. I may have been upset in that moment but now that it's finally the day; I couldn't stop thinking about everything ahead of me.
☾
It had taken hours until we reached our destination, but we had finally made it. By now it was getting dark, but I hadn't minded since I had already figured it would be. I had wished I could see more of my surroundings to put my dreams and the area together. I was desperate to know if they were actually realistic or not. But instead, I had to stay inside for the night and leave all of my belongings in the locked van until morning.
I had dreaded waiting but I knew it was for the best. I walked into the house and spelled a beautiful aroma of lavender and vanilla. It was delightful and I looked around before running upstairs into Alicia's room. Of course, I had visited her house a few times before and already knew what Ali's room had looked like. Although, it had been about 8 years since I had visited - let alone lived over here. The room was a pale blue with wispy clouds painted onto the ceiling and a wooden floor. There was a beautiful tribal print carpet laying the middle of the floor and the loft bed in the corner. Her bed was always my favorite thing in her room due to the engravings on the inside of it. She had initials and drawings underneath the bed where there was an open area to sit - including my own. But other than that, the collection of records she had stashed on the bookshelf in the opposite corner was another part I loved. She had always bought random records that she found, not knowing the singer or songs. It was amazing.
I had enjoyed looking around but knew I needed to get some sleep, otherwise I'll be a walking zombie for tomorrow. It was my first day going around the town before school the next day. Trust me, school wasn't exciting–at all. But the mystery that was about to be solved sure was.
I had changed into different clothing, pulling out a pair of unmatched pajamas out of Ali's drawer and putting them on. I slipped under the covers and shut my eyes, falling asleep quicker than I had imagined.
☾
I heard a slight knock on the door as my eyes flickered open, revealing the new area around me. I had almost forgotten when I had woken up that I wouldn't be in my own bed anymore.
"Mornin' sleepyhead," My Aunt chuckled, as I felt at my nappy hair that seemed to be everywhere. "Nick is downstairs making pancakes and bacon if you want to join us." She suggested, handing me some clothes that I knew weren't mine. I looked down at them and they had seemed new. I smiled and thanked her as she explained to me that I'll want those for tomorrow to show em' what I've got. To be honest, I thought my Aunt Kristie was hilarious and I always knew how to get along with her. My uncle on the other hand, we were 'buddies' but I hadn't had a good bond with him. This was more due to the fact that he was married late into the family after her first divorce with Steven. So yes, technically Ali's not his biological daughter but has definitely taken pretty great care of her. Steven still came around, but never enough to make an impact. It was pretty upsetting actually, but Alicia hadn't minded. She hid it and I knew that, but that's why I looked up to her so much.
I snapped away from my thinking and ran downstairs in my clothes for the day. I followed the beautiful aroma into the kitchen and sat down at the table. There was already a plate set up for me and I thanked them as I scarfed it down.
Uncle Nick made a joke about how I ate the food so fast, but it was kind of old-style, so I didn't really get it. Either way, I gave him a happy response and went to go on my way to the moving van.
"One second, Han." Aunt Kristie said, picking up the phone and dialing a number I hadn't recognized. She put it up to her ear and it immediately picked up.
"Hi Melissa! Is Scott home?" She questioned as my brows crinkled together in confusion. She looked at me with a wink and I rolled my eyes, placing my hand onto my hip for stability. Of course she was trying to set me up with someone already. "Great! Could he come over and help Hanna with her boxes? She needs help bring all of her belongings in." She paused, waiting for an answer and then smiling.
"You're trying to set me up with someone already?" I chuckled, "What if I don't want to date anyone?" She had no reply except for a smirk and a shrug.
I was told to stay inside until Scott arrived and could help me, which I thought was ridiculous. I could handle a few boxes on my own until the hormonal teenage boy got here.
But it wasn't long anyways because he had knocked on the door and Aunt Kristine insisted that I open it. So I did and my heart dropped into my stomach as I looked at the brunette before me. I felt lightheaded and then things started to go dark. I thought I was fine but I could feel arms grab my sides before I could no longer see or hear what was going on.
☾
I had woken on the couch, causing a shuffle of feet and eyes on me. "You had me so scared!" Aunt Kristine screeched as I tried to pull myself up but failed.
"Woah, woah, woah." Was all I could hear as two hands had helped me lay back down. I had looked up at the brunette and noticed that his eyes were a dark brown with tint of curiosity. I had quickly glanced away, breaking eye contact with him and looking up at the ceiling.
"So you're Scott, huh?" I chuckled, as did he.
"Yep."
