Chapter 20

Time heals everything , they say, but thats not true in my case. Its been a week since Braden and I parted ways.

He had moved in back to his parents' house, under the compulsion of his mum.
The Swayers' house seems quieter than ever and my house seems to be on par with theirs. My parents were startled by the fact that I actually had a boyfriend. My dad was infuriated that I dared to love someone from our rival company and started whining about "blasphemous" it was to love Jase. My mum on the other hand was trying to devise plans with Mrs Swayer to unite me with Braden.

But none of their plan could work because Braden didnt even want me to exist on the same planet as him.

Today, I realised that I will have to resume with my life whether or not Braden lives with me. I had arranged for a breakfast and study session with Jossie ,so,I had to run out of my house to catch the earliest bus because I was already 20 minutes late.

"Hey Jossie, I will be there in 15.Just take a look at the menu,alright?"I informed Jossie as I closed my front door. I headed to my main gate but stopped in my tracks as I saw Braden leaving for work.

Wasnt he late?

He was rushing and it was obvious because he hadnt worn his coat like he does.  He too, stopped in his tracks as he saw me exiting my house. But he threw me an icy glare and rushed out to his car.

He sped the car past me in such a way that if I had been less cautious, he could have hit me.

Whats the rush to go behind the bars,husband?

I shrugged and walked off.

The meetup with Jossie took things away from my head for awhile. I felt like I was really a student with no baggages. Although everytime Jossie spoke of her boyfriend, I prayed so hard she wont ask about Braden.

"We should go on a double date one day." Jossie flashed her smile at me as I packed up.

"Uhmm..well, yes. We should."I stammered. As Jossie mentioned dates, I remembered today was the last day to pay for the next semester.

"Have you paid for the new sem?" I asked Jossie panicking.

She nodded her head and I hurriedly grabbed my things.I had to pay by 5pm and all my cards were at Braden's house. I hailed a cab and directed the driver to the house.

I absentmindedly entered the house and entered the lock pin number. But it had "ERROR" on its screen. I should have known Braden would deny access to his house now.

I kicked the gate in frustration and thought of what to do next.

POPPY!

I called Poppy and asked her for the new pin. She was still doing the housekeeping for this mansion and she had to know the pin. Despite knowing everything that has happened, Poppy had her sweet aura around her when she was speaking. She assured me that Braden will realise love conquers all,one day. I thanked her but highly doubted Braden ever will realise that.

I keyed in the pin and entered the house. I spotted Braden's car in the garage and immediately planned to 'ninja' my way through the mansion. 

I entered the hallway to see Braden typing furiously on his laptop. The sound of the typing stopped abruptly . Okay, so Braden has realised Im here.

Let the hell break loose.

"Braden, Im just here for my cards. Need to pay my fees." I spoke first as I looked at his stone hard face. His face was filled with so much bitterness that even his good looks couldnt tame it.

He just resumed typing.

I entered our room to see everything untouched. The moisturiser was left open and I closed it back.

The bed was neatly made and my newly washed clothes were placed on the end of the bed,so that I can return from my trip and fold them back.

I looked at our wedding photo and smiled at it. I only had memories with me.

The clock on the wall caught my eye and I realised I only had 30 minutes to pay my fees.

SHIT. So much for reminiscing.

I opened my drawer and grabbed my credit card along with my favourite perfume, cause priorities.

I ran down the stairs trying go book an Uber but I had to wait atleast 15 minutes.

"Uhm Braden, can you drop me at-" I asked him for help but I stopped halfway as he slammed the laptop shut.

"Why ask me? Ask the guy you loved." He briskly walked to the kitchen.

"Dont you dare pull Jase into this. I told you its over between us. Its not my fault that he cant get over me. You know well that I love you only." I shouted at him.

Braden walked out of the kitchen and stood right infront of me.

"Im not ready to believe that. Now,please get out." He stared hard at me.

I hated how my tears spoiled my brave demeanour. I tried to act strong but these eyes were always ready to produce the tears.

"I just wanted you to drop me at my campus. And I have gotten a very well deserved reply." I wiped my tears.

"Ally.."

Both I and Braden turned our heads towards the door.

"Jase." I uttered his name as soon as he came in sight.

"Why plead him when Im here? Only I value your love. Not him." He simple stated.

Braden seethed with anger upon hearing Jase's words.

"Just ignore him and come with me."Jase repeated his words again.

I looked at the time. 20 minutes left.
Braden was watching me but I couldnt care less.

"Fine. Lets go." I said to Jase and followed him out of the mansion.
