Chapter 5

I was still confused over last night's encounter with Braden. It was so abrupt,I didnt know how to react to it. Today, I happened to be awake earlier than Braden so when he woke up,he wished me 'Good Morning'. Poppy made us breakfast and he came up to the room to just tell me that breakfast was ready. It was so weird. 

Something felt amiss. 

This isnt the Braden I knew. Braden is headstrong in the sense that if he doesnt want something he will never change mind,atleast not before everyone begs him. If someone who has never bother speaking to you all your life decided to talk to you after you suggest to be friends...its too quick.

"Whats wrong,dear?"I saw Poppy entering the room with a cup of tea.

"Poppy..Im fine. Have a seat here."I patted the bed to show her.

Poppy obliged and passed me the tea. "I know things between you and Braden is rough. And it pains me to see you suffer and get locked in this house like some prisoner. The only advice I have for you is to live your life,regardless of whether Braden likes you or not. Build an empire of yours and emancipate yourself from this torture."She gave a dry smile.

I nodded my head and sipped the tea. What Poppy said made sense. Why should I stop living my life just because Im someone's wife? I needed to regain myself.

I looked at Poppy who gave me the knowing look. She knew that I have made up my mind on something.

Braden entered the house speaking to someone on the phone.

Brida,again? I thought as I switched off the TV.

"Good evening" He greeted as he walked past me.

"Braden,can I have minute with you?" I asked.

"Yup."He ended his call.

"Look,I have known you my entire life. You never changed a decision you have made before.Then how did you decided to accept my idea of  being friends first? You were pretending right?" I asked folding my hands.

Braden looked stunned for a moment.

"Yes. I pretended to be your friend. I just wanted to see how it turns out? I dont see anything wrong with it."He shrugged.

What a jerk!

"You will never understand that relationships come from the heart and they are genuine!!" I bellowed.

"ALICIA!Stop it right there."He stepped closer,glaring at me.

For a moment,I was startled. But I regained my composure and stared back at him.

"I wont stop. I have a  decision. Im going to pursue my higher degree and do a part time job. Basically,Im going live my life. And I dont need you in it."I strode away to the bedroom.

I had applied for a higher degree way before my marriage. I felt that I had to pursue my education. It was even better that I got a  part time job at a an office to support myself.

Braden had a smirk on his face when he entered the bedroom.

" Just in case you havent realised,the bedroom next to this room has been done already.Since you have nothing to do with me, I will appreciate it if you get out of here."He threw a pillow at me.

I managed to catch the pillow and stomped to the next room.

I cant be bothered about a heartless and brainless person like Braden.
