Chap 3: Run

We stopped at the edge when we noticed that we were at a high place. We didn't know how to get down but we did think of something that couldn't possibly hurt us, right?
There was a balcony on each window that was only a couple of feet away. We could jump on there, but that could be risky because the building looks old and it may crumble down.
"Got any other ideas?" I asked looking at Dalal.
"No, but it's worth a shot." She answered.
Dalal went first then I went, but when I jumped on there the balcony was about to break, so we quickly grabbed on to the nearest item then went to the next balcony. This balcony was a lot better than the first one. We heard shouting from the place we came out from. We panicked and hurried down to the next nearest balcony, but since we panicked we didn't know that this balcony was crumbling as well. The balcony fell and luckily this balcony was the closest to the ground.
We only got a few cuts and bruises from the fall but when we heard shouting from our left we got up and ran into the rainy forest.
Despite the pain we are feeling, we get up and run until we can't anymore. We both stopped and hid behind a big tree then climbed up.
"Are they st-st-still here?!?" Dalal panted.
"Shush! It's only been a few seconds can't you hold it in?" I whispered.
"But, can't I talk?"
"Shush!"
"Aww!"
"SHUSH!!!"
"I'm sorry I was just chased down and forced to suf-"
"Shush we'll get cau-" I interrupted Dalal then cut myself off and covered her mouth so she couldn't finish.
We heard a stick crack, and a few men came out from nowhere.
"They have to be here somewhere..." one whispered to himself, then he whistled for the dogs to come.
He showed the dogs a few pieces of lollipop since the boss knew I had some in my bag. MY BAG! I started panicking for a second, but then I noticed they left my bag on me, and Dalal's on her. We must not have been there long enough for them to take it! The dogs started coming, and Dalal started crying and getting my hand wet.
"Don't cry! I have an idea!" I wiped my hand on my shirt and let Dalal sniffle for a few seconds and calm down, "Follow me!"
We stayed quiet and climbed across the branches to another tree as they were bunched together tightly, scarcely without falling off. I climbed right over to the edge of the lake and looked behind me. The dogs were still hopping by the original tree.
"Jump one more time okay?"
"What? Are you crazy?" Dalal was probably thinking I was a wacko.
Then I realized our hair could get caught and used as a tool. I knew Dalal's hair was too long. I grabbed a sharp rock from a nearby next and grabbed Dalal's hair.
"Watcha' doin'?" She asked cautiously.
"Leaving no sign we were here."
Before Dalal could disagree I cut her hair to a short, but cute, cut.
"Ahhh" she squealed.
I also had hair dye and a few water bottles that purified. So I quickly dyed her hair brown, and just left mine somewhat bleached since it leaves a somewhat too common stench. This didn't take too long since they were similar colors to our hair. Then I put my hair in pigtails.
"Okay now jump!"
"What? You cut and dyed our hair! Shouldn't that get rid of all the smell?"
"Sorry! But, no, we're too vulnerable and we have to swim across too. I'll get more water from the lake to be purified while I swim. But, we have to get out of here, now!"
We threw our stuff over our backs and close to our necks so we could keep it dry. I had done our hair over our bags so they reeked hair dye, but then I had threw some fish on them so it smelled normal with the forest, but be dry. I collected the water as we swam. The dogs heard the splash and immediately came running, but looked around like nothing was there. We immediately dunked our heads. The men thought the bags were thrown to leave them off guard so they started running back, and we lifted our heads back up. We made it across soaked except for our stuff.
"So what else do you have in your bag?" Dalal questioned.
"Me and my father were going to go camping today. I have everything we need to survive!" I smirked at her for a second, "and how about you?"
"I have a lot of useful items, but I'll only show you if we need them... do you have any Cocoa?"
"Who doesn't?"
"No one! How much? I've got enough for 10cups!"
"I've got more! Plus, I have stuff for a fire!"
"How about a tent?"
"I have two... they are personal sizes for me and my pa..." a tear rolled down my cheek.
"You okay?"
"yeah, I just miss my family."
"and me mine!" Dalal sighed, "Where will we go?"
"Home, wherever that may be."
"How do we find it?"
"We must find somewhere with people and communication before we look for our family. I have a phone, but I'd have no bars here. Who even knows what's going on at home!"
"Or if anyone is at home... Ayane?"
"yeah?"
"Do we even have a home?"
"I'm sure we'll find out soon because I sure do hope so!"
