Everyone grew quiet when we entered back into April and I's apartment. The awkward tension in the air did not help at all during this time.
To calm the nerves April and Casey seemed to have, I started to make some jasmine tea. Herbal tea, a matter of fact, is stated to help with anxiety and or anxious feelings. Hopefully this would help the both of them...
Clicking off the oven, I pour the hot water into three cups that held a tea bag. I take two, walking over and handing them to April and Casey who both sat on the couch in the living room. I walked back into the kitchen, only to grab mine and join them.
"Okay..." I start, sitting down in a chair in front of them. "What exactly do you need to tell me?"
They exchanged glances, Casey taking a sip of tea as April sets hers down.
"Well, Andie, there's no easy way to say this, but you're being hunted down by the shredder," April speaks, looking at me dead in the eyes.
I practically choke on my drink, "what?!"
This was not what I was expecting...
"He's after you because you're friends with me."
"And why would he be after you?"
Casey started to take sips of his tea, rather fast, and laid his head back against the edge of the couch. "There are...well...these four brothers. And these four brothers were the reason why Shredder was in police custody," April continues.
"Vernon- well- Vern the Falcon- he's just a cover up for these four brothers."
"But, why would these 'four brothers' need to hide their identities?" I ask, looking at her confused.
April sighed, "Because...they're mutant turtles."
My eyes widen hearing what she said. Mutant turtles? Without thinking, I bursted out into laughter, taking in everything she said as a joke. "W-wow, April. I didn't know you were this good of a pranker! Haha, mutant turtles?! Get outta here!" I chuckle, wiping a tear from my eye.
"She's serious, Andie." Casey adds in.
I stop laughing, looking up at them seeing their faces form a frown and their eyes wide with the truth. "You're kidding, right?"
"I wish I was," April says before heading towards the window. "Andie, these guys have done more for this city than anyone would ever know, or what they would take credit for."
I nod my head slowly, trying to process everything I'm hearing, better yet, to accept it.
"But April, how does this have to do with you and Casey?" I ask, taking a sip of tea- more like a gulp.
"I knew them for a year, they saved my life. Protected both Casey and I. They're our best friends. And...they're kind of my child hood pets..." I look at her, lifting an eye brow. She sighs and begins to tell me how her father and a guy called Mr. Sacks worked with a formula called mutagen, which they put into the turtles blood stream.
Everything that she was telling me didn't feel real. It felt as if this was all made up, or I was in some crazy movie with twist endings. Though, I kind of liked what I was hearing.
"Wow..." I whispered, leaning back into my chair.
"Yeah, wow." Casey added, he seemed to not know the whole story from what his expression was on his face.
April started opening the window, then looked at me with hesitant eyes. "Now, Andie, are you ready to meet them?" She asked.
I gasp as I sit up, looking from her to the window, then slowly nodding my head.
"You guys can come in!" April yelled, backing up from the window.
Suddenly, from what my eyes could see, four mutant turtles came inside the room from the window, all standing besides April.
Each had a signature color of masks wrapped around their eyes, along with weapons of their own. They were all tall, a lot taller than I imagined and for one, they were all very muscular. What April didn't mention was that they were ninjas, and I could only tell from the weapons they had, along with the gear.
"Look, she's looking at us like we're freaks." The one in the red bandana scoffed, leaning against the wall.
All I could do was stand there shocked, confused. I didn't want my reaction to come off bad, but who could blame me? I've never seen anyone- anything- like this in my entire life!
"Andie, meet Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo," April said, introducing them all for them. "Guys, meet Andie Rose."
"I was right! April does have hot friends!" Michelangelo yelled, then getting slapped on the back of his head by the one in blue.
"Shut it, Mikey. Hello there, miss. Sorry about my brother, pleasure to meet you." Leonardo says, holding out his hand.
I looked down at his green hand, only three fingers...
Hesitantly, I shook his hand, looking up at him with a small smile. "Nice to meet- umm- you guys too."
Donatello held out his hand as well, I gladly shook it, along with Michelangelo's. I walked over to Raphael next, he not moving, only to cross his arms.
"I wouldn't try with him, dudette. He's to hot-headed." Michelangelo said, walking over to Casey.
"Maybe on the outside..." I whisper, holding out my hand. Raphael looked down at me surprised. For a few seconds, he didn't bother even looking at my hand, but for some reason that changed.
I looked up into his emerald green eyes, his into mine as a light blush grew onto his cheeks. I smiled noticing, and walked closer to him.
He sighed, looking down at my hand before taking mine in his, shaking it. Slowly, our hands stopped. We just sat there, staring into each other eyes, our hands linked together. A weird feeling washed over me as stared.
"Whoa..." Michelangelo said, all his brothers exchanging glances.
I blinked and in that second I was bumped back into reality. I remove my hand from his and clear my throat, turning around to face everyone.
"Hey, you know its getting late. I have work in the morning, so Ill just...get going to bed. It was nice meeting you guys!" I say, nervously putting my hair up into a pony tail.
"You too!" Michelangelo chirped, making me smile.
"Goodnight, Andie." Casey said as I walked over to him. I gave him a friendly hug for what he did for me today and walked past Raphael to get to my room.
Quickly, I change into my pajamas, turning out the light, and jumping into bed.
The thing that happened with Raphael made my head spin, and I didn't know what to do about that. Including the fact that mutants are real, there's also a serial killer after me...wonderful.
Andie, you really got a lot on your hands now...
