       "YOU'RE FIRED!"

Everyone in the restaurant glanced over, their eyes lingering on  my boss screaming directly in front of my face as if she were a Sargant. All I could do was stand and watch, my heart pounding - ringing in my ears.

"W-what?" I asked, flickering my eyes from the floor and up to meet her black shaded orbs.

"Do you need me to spell it?! F. I. R. E. D! Leave now and don't you come back!"

At this point, I couldn't respond. Reality hit me faster than a rushing bus when I had realized there were no way I would be able to afford my half of the rent without a job. It was even hard to afford groceries with the pay I was getting alone.

I decided to listen, regardless of the urge to beg her to keep me. She wasn't budging and I was afraid that if I stayed any longer, she would end up throwing me out herself. As I walked back to the break room, where I kept my jacket and purse, I couldn't help but to wonder why she fired me for dropping (another) customers plate.

In my defense, it wasn't all my fault.

I asked my fellow co-worker for assistance, but she was too busy typing away on her phone. Perhaps, this job wasn't meant to work out in the long run. I could just find another job, therefore I wouldn't be homeless.

April wouldn't allow it - me to be homeless, but it was up to our apartment owner and he made it clear that if I weren't able to make payment, I would be out by payment day. I just didn't know how to tell her.

I pull my jacket closer to me as I stroll down the sidewalk, glancing down at my watch. My normal shift wouldn't be over for the next 3 hours. I had been working all day and she decided to fire me.

A sigh leaves my lips as I turn into an alley way, my eyes flickering over to the manhole covering below my feet. Raphael had made it very clear the night I saw him last, 3 days ago, that I weren't aloud to be alone for safety purposes.

I didn't want to be alone worrying about everything right now anyway.

I bend down, picking up the manhole cover and sliding it over. I glance around, making sure there wasn't anyone watching me hop into the sewers. One, its illegal; two - it's just really odd.

When I saw that the coast was clear, I quickly climb down the later, sliding the covering back over the hole. My nose scrunches when I smelt the repulsive scent of the sewers.

April said I would get use to the smell, but after a month, it's still dreadful.

For now on, I'm going to bring 3 bottles of febreeze.

I made it to the bottom, my slippers squishing against the moist bottom. I pulled out my phone, shining the light out in front of me, making sure I didn't go the wrong way. Regardless of the bad morning, my mood still didn't change because I would see the turtles.

I were still nervous to see their reaction, though.

Laughter filled the tunnel as I walked closer to the light at the end, the air beginning to smell like a faint scent of pizza. My smile only widens when I heard a loud,

"MIKEY!" It being caused by no other than my mutant- turtle- boyfriend, Raphael.

It still amazed me that they were real, better yet dating one of them. I couldn't see a well-fulfilled life without them. We were all meant to meet and I'm starting to figure out that reason.
