Home Run

If you were to ask me

What I noticed first about you,

I would say

Your incredable sense of humor.

I noticed your muscles next ;)

I watched you from a distance,

Afraid to come to close to

Your little group of friends.

We spoken once,

A quick few words.

A couple teasing remarks.

I didn't think you even really noticed me.

I dodn't think you knew

My name,

Whereas everyone knows yours.

And then today,

You were the only one

To cheer me on

As I ran the bases

And it made me feel special.

Do you know the effect

Your words had on me?

I felt like I could have

Hit an in-the-park

Home run.

I couldn't have,

But I felt like it.

Then,

When we were going in

For the day,

You made me laugh

And you knew you did.

Is that why you winked at me?

Did you recognize my laugh

And know where I was?

Did you know,

The other day,

Just how much I needed a smile?

Is that the reason for the beautiful smile

You gave me?

It truly was beautiful.

So beautiful,

It took my breath

Away.

But I dare not get too close.

I have a bad habit

Of striking out fast with boys.

But maybe,

Just maybe,

With some time

And a little practice,

You could be my in-the-park

Home run.
