Look at me
And tell me,
What do you see?
When you look into my eyes,
Am I an open book to you?
Or am I a mystery?
Tell me,
Do you see how I feel?
Can you see how lost I am?
Can you see my thoughts,
Or the words I want to say,
But don't?
Do you see them racing through my mind?
Listen to me
And tell me,
What do you hear?
When I speak,
Can you tell I'm struggling for words?
Or is my voice as steady as it should be?
Can you hear my need
For someone to love me?
Can you hear the way my hearts pounds
Whenever you're near?
Can you hear the words I want to say,
But don't?
Do you hear them, on the tip of my tongue?
Touch my hand
And tell me,
Do you feel me tremble?
Do you feel my pulse speed up
And my blood race?
My hands shake.
Do you feel my inner turmoil?
My head is wrestling with my heart
And my heart is winning.
Cann you feel the words I want to say,
But don't?
Do you feel how much I want to say them?
Those words,
Simple words.
They should be easy to say,
But they catch in my throat
And get stuck on my teeth
And lost in your eyes
And you don't see or hear or feel them
And so I write them,
So you can read them.
They come from deep within me,
From a place I never knew existed,
Until you showed me the path
To where they are.
So here are
My unspoken words,
For all to see.
Part of me hopes you'll see them, too,
And the other part is afraid.
Afraid os what you'll say
And what you'll do.
That is why I cannot tell you
With my eyes or my voice of my hands or my hands.
Eight billion people and you're the only one.
It's easy to love you and hard to tell you.
So I write these words:
I love you.
