Thomas coughed once more as the world around him began to spin, but he knew his opponent was far from done. He stood on shaky legs, dusting off his black pants, adjusting his brown jacket and stained white collared shirt. His dark brown eyes glared at the group under his fedora. He wiped the blood from his mouth and looked around for possible exits.
There were none; this plan was going horribly.
Thomas backed away as the group advances, stopping when he felt the railing at his back. He looked down at the seemingly bottomless pit, inwardly shuddering at the though of falling. Before he had the chance to look up, he was punched across the face, falling to the floor with a loud thud. He was continuously kicked as he laid on the floor.
Thomas could take the pain, but with how he was hurt he wasn't able to follow the plan. He grunted as he was kicked in the gut multiple times, coughing up blood once again. He had no tricks up his sleeve; he was powerless. His small pony tail was undone, the tie long forgotten, and his fedora was starting to fall off of his head.
Then, he heard a shing, and his eyes shot open to see Innocentia, wielding her double machetes. Her wavy, curly, short hair swung as she kicked her opponents, her red tennis shoes flying through the air. Her blue, collared jacket and dark blue jeans stuck to her body as she knocked out everyone, except for the leader.
As she faced toward the leader, her eyes lost their shine and a grin was painted on her face.
She sliced his legs under him and kneed his guys, effectively knocking him out. Thomas clenched his hands and pushed himself off the ground. He leaned on the railing and looked up at Innocentia, her figure towering over him. He grit his teeth, his face burning, and looked down at the bottomless pit.
He had failed his mission.
Thomas jumped as he felt his feet leave the ground, arms wrapped under his arms. He craned his neck to look up at Innocentia as she left the abandoned factory, twisting to look at her. 'How did you know?' Thomas signed. He didn't know if she could see, but she always knew what he wanted.
"Well, your agency told me that you had another case and couldn't come over to stop my evil plans, so I hacked into the database to see your case. (Don't tell them I did that.) You had left for the case at 2:30 but it was already 3:50, and you're the top agent in the agency, so you wouldn't just be fooling around with the evil people. (Also, you have some blood on your face. Here, hold up... Ah there you go! You look so much better without coughing up blood.) Naturally, I went to see what was going on and I saw them beating you up (Don't they know you're my nemesis?!) and I-"
Thomas slapped a hand on Tia's face, of course not to hurt her, effectively stopping her ranting. She put Thomas down and smiled sheepishly, scratching the back of her neck as a blush starting forming on her cheeks. Thomas rolled his eyes, but a small smirk (and maybe a little blush) was evident on his face.
Enemies or not, he knew if he was ever in a predicament, Tia would somehow find him and save him. He still felt guilty about not being able to stop them himself, but Tia managed to wash that feeling away. They had been nemesis's for 2 years now, and Thomas couldn't have picked anyone better to be his nemesis. 'Thank you.' He signed and he saw Tia's face light up when she looked at him, the grin on her face different from earlier.
They walked side-by-side, communicating with each other about different topics. Thomas felt warm and light. Innocentia was his closest companion, besides his family. She helped him and he helped her, saving each other sometimes as well. The Secret Agent Society is probably conflicted that he, the top agent, had become friends with his nemesis.
Then again, if you spend 2 years with someone, they tend to grow on you. Thomas hoped their friendship would stay forever, and maybe grow into something even greater.
