When he saw the Siamese cat prowling around, he didn't think much of it. It didn't look dangerous at all, no hissing or claws tearing at anything. Although, it did glare at him a bit but he chalked it up to normal cat behavior.

Imagine his surprise, when one day, he saw the cat curled up in the basement, taking a cat nap. The first thing he felt was annoyance. The second was confusion.

Why was this random Siamese cat sleeping in the basement? How did it get in the basement in the first place?

Before he could ponder those questions, a knock came from the metal door that served as an entrance to the basement. He called an affirmation to the person to enter, and the door swung open to reveal his bright and starry niece.

She wore a black shirt and light blue skirt, a white jacket and knee high socks. She flashed him a bright smile before brushing past him to the cat, now awake and watching him with a wary eye.

"Damia? Do you know the origins of this cat and it's abilities? It somehow got inside the basement, most likely due to another person's meddling."

He looked down at his niece, the bundle of fur in her arms jostling a bit before settling down. Damia giggled at the sensation before looking back up at him.

"Oh! You mean Pooky? He's actually Auntie Parisa's cat! We don't see him around a lot since he's with Auntie all the time, but he's a great pet. I think Auntie actually let him down here."

Irritation bubbled up at the fact that Parisa had let this strange cat into his basement, but he pushed it aside for curiosity. He never knew that she had a cat, much less that it actually lived here.

He wondered why she had never told him or why he had never seen the cat around beforehand, but he shrugged it off. He could question her about it later. Speaking of which...

"C'mon, let's go upstairs. I would like to hear more about this cat." Damia smiled exuberantly, eyes shining with happiness and he couldn't help but smile back. His niece was an amazing person.

He pulled the door closed behind him as he trailed behind Damia who was jumping up the stairs leading to the ground floor. He stepped onto the last step, watching as his niece jogged in place, waiting for him next to the door.

She pushed open the door with her side, cradling the cat in her arms. Even this, however, did not restrain Pooky from its confines, leaping onto the wooden floor and scurrying away from the them.

He accompanied his niece as they chased the cat, hearing the startled yelp of Griffin in the kitchen, followed by a thud as he presumably hit the ground. They also heard Parisa's concerns for the young boy as well as the warm welcome she treated the cat with.

When he and Damia slid into the room, Griffin was grumply sitting on the floor rubbing his head as Parisa kneeled to help with any injuries. The cat, however, simply laid on the table, licking its paws as it fixed him with a distasteful look.

That was when he noticed that the creature had two different eye colors, signifying that this cat was a heterochromia, its left eye blue and its right eye black. He was startled by this, enough so that he didn't notice his twin sister and his nephew pick themselves off the floor.

"Pooky..! You know that you don't zip around like that, you could trip someone! Like you just did with Griffin."

The cat meowed in return, turning its face so that it wouldn't face her. Curiously, the cat had no objections to being picked up by Parisa, cradling the cat with a look of fondness and someone else that he couldn't identify.

"Remember what happens when you trip someone? Next time, the universe may not be so forgiving, and someone may get hurt. You don't want that, do you?"

The cat meowed once more, this time guiltily. However, when asked the last question, it focused its icy glare at him, all of a sudden shifting the atmosphere of the room into someone much more sinister than just a simple "cat".

He swallowed nervously.

"Oh! Nick! Looks like you finally made it out of your den for once? Are you actually feeling hungry? Or has the devil spawned you to come?"

His eyes and fingers twitched at the jokes, spa- bringing up some rather painful memories. He glared at her, yet Parisa didn't seem contrite, even pointing finger guns at him. At least, as much as she could manage with the cat comfortable in her arms.

He sighed at her behavior, then stopped when the cat hissed at him, face and ears drawn back to show off its sharp teeth. He leveled a fiery gaze at it, to which it replied with the same icy cold glare it had earlier.

"Pooky, you know what I told you. Don't hiss at Nick. Even if you don't like him, that doesn't mean you treat him like that. Okay?"

The cat still seemed on edge, yet relaxed in her arms, turning its face away from him and seemingly taking a nap in her arms. Parisa sighed exasperatedly at the cat sleeping in her arms, but she held a fond expression on her face.

Somehow, he's felt as though he's seen that look before...

He shook the feeling off. The cat had distracted him for far too long; he needed to return to his work. He spun on his heel, opened the entrance to the basement, and left the floor.

He felt the same, chilling glare behind his back once more.

This time, it was all to familiar.
