It was 10'oclock and even though Devon didn't want to go to sleep I sat by him while he was under the covers in his bed. I waited for awhile until he started to fall asleep. But soon after he had shoot up from his bed in a cold sweat. I stared at him unsure of what to say. He looked at me and I could see tears forming in his eyes.

"What did you dream of Devon?" I asked a bit scared to know.

"I started to dream of Trevor and the bad man who killed him. I saw Trevor walking to the library and putting his book in. Then I saw a man chase him but soon after pulled out a gun. Then I woke up not wanted to see how it ended," He explained holding tears back.

"C'mon, let's go downstairs and watch a movie," I replied trying to smile.

Sara was pacing around the kitchen talking away on the phone. I grabbed popcorn and some water then walked back to the couch. Devon was sitting the couch with his blue eyes staring at the TV. His dirty blonde hair went along with his surprisingly tan skin. For a 7 year old he was cute, friendly, and been through things no child should have to.

Besides his dead beat dad cheating he used to gamble away all our money. He was the worst. Peter was also a drunkard. The only reason that he ever lost at a game was because he was dead drunk. He would come home angry at night and hit Devon. When I couldn't take it anymore I would step in and take the beating instead. I couldn't even leave then though, I had good reason and pleanty of them, but I was stupid. The last straw was being cheated on and I exploded inside. I couldn't take him anymore and I filed the diviorce. If it wasn't more Trevor I would never had gotten through that. I just feel sorry for that new person he's got as a whipping dummy.

The movie Peter Pan came on and we watched it together until Devon saw Tinkerbell dying. He stared at the screen and turned his head in confusement.

"What's wrong Devon?" I asked.

"I don't understand, it's called neverland. How could she die? Do people in Neverland die too? What kind of world is this!?" He screamed.

Tears flowed from his eyes and I couldn't help but cry too. Once we both had stop Kaylee and Lola, Sara's daughters, were staring at us.

"Mommy, what happened? Are they hurt?" Kaylee asked.

"C'mon girls get into the car," Sara answered pushing them out the door.

"Thanks for making the arrangements Sara," I said smiling as much as I could,

"No problem, it's the least that I could do," She smiled leaving.

I put Devon back to bed and he actually fell asleep. It has been a emotinal day.

I walked down the steps and put my coat on. I shut the lights and left the house. Don't get me wrong I hated to leave Devon alone at a time like this but I needed to clear my head. I got my keys to the house and walked down to the library. I peeked into the return box and there was Trevor's late book. I chuckled at the memory of the day he got the book.

-Flashback-

"Ugh, this book is impossible!" Trevor screamed.

"Don't worry, you'll finish it one day," I replied while cooking dinner.

"Easy for you to say, " He pouted, "You've already read it."'

"True, and I'm smarter than you,' I smirked chuckling

"Hey!" He screeched.

-End of Flashback-

It was not true, I was far from smarter than him. I was just better at reading that's all. I would love to tease him about it whenever I had the chance. When Devon got home from school Trevor would always help him with his homework. Projects, homework, and writing were just some of his talents. I walked over a few steps away and felt the urge to run. But, no one was there. I followed my urge and ran a few feet away. I stopped dead cold in the middle of the sidewalk. I turned around and stared at the alley in front of me.

"This is where it happened!" I screamed talking to myself, "Why did you do it?! I don't understand! Why!?"

I ran back to the house feeling tears form but I wouldn't let them fall. I couldn't. I wouldn't. All I wanted to do was understand why.

I walked back to the house feeling more horrible than ever. I didn't feel liKe crying though, i didn't want to. I had enough teasr for one day. But suddently it all hit me at once, Trevor was dead. He is gone forever. There was no turning back the clocks.

I ran back to the house, and saw Devon asleep on the couch now.

I sat next to him and turned on the TV. I heard a knock on the door and looked through the windoe to see who it was,

I gasped and woke Devon up.

"Go up to your room Devon," I whispered.

"Ok mommy," He replied sleepily.

I went to the door after a few minutes keeping a phone and bat close by. I turned on the porch light and slowly opened the door.

"Hey," The tall figure said.

I relised exactly who it was now. I kind of had figured but I had been proven right.

"What could you possibly want from my life now....., Peter."
