"We're being attacked!" Batman alarmed. Spider-Man snapped his eyes open and looked around. Batman was in the pilot's seat, manoeuvring the cruiser around. He stood up, but an explosion rolled the aircraft so hard Spidey stumbled and landed on one knee.
"They knew we were coming?" Peter asked as he got back up and ran to the cockpit.
"Somehow." Batman replied.
"Is there anything you want me to do?" Spider-Man asked quickly. Another explosion sent the Tri-Wing to spin into a spiral. Batman quickly gained control again and gritted his teeth. Outside of the cockpits visor was the Arctic, perhaps the whitest environment Spidey had ever seen. He couldn't see what was firing at them, but they were sure there.
"The surveillance computer doubles as a disruptor launcher." Batman told him.
"Of course it does." Spidey rolled his eyes as he ran to the surveillance computer. On the touchpad, he selected the self-defence mode. Immediately, two joysticks ejected from the machine. Spidey sat down on the seat and looked at the monitor, which had turned into a targeting computer, showing the vision of the disruptor.
"What do I do?"
"Select the electronics detector, it'll locate whatever's locking onto us!"
Spider-Man did so, and immediately several turrets showed up. They were hidden in the snow, dozens of them.
"There are quite a lot of them!" He exclaimed. "Like, a LOT!"
"Then do something about them!" The Bat shouted back.
Spidey fired five disruptor shots- only two of which hit their targets. The ones which were hit stop firing.
The three which were not hit, however, fired more shots at the Tri-Wing. Batman spun the aircraft around, in circles, with Peter only barley managing to hang on. He looked at the screen- no turrets.
Then, out of nowhere, a non-technological weapon fired out at them. It was a rocket, and it hit the side of the ship. It went down, pieces of the aircraft falling off like shedding fur. Batman leapt out from the driver's seat and into the main area just as it hit the snow. It skidded for a few seconds, before coming to an abrupt halt.
The two stood up, Batman activating predator vision. He turned it off again, and walked over to the storage room.
"What did you see?" Spidey asked him. Batman opened the door and strode towards the suite, Spidey next to him.
"LexCorp elite troopers- at least a dozen of them. We're surrounded."
"And the heat armour will protect us how, exactly...?"
"Didn't I mention the armour? They can withstand many shots to it, and impact damage isn't a problem either. Now come on- we wouldn't want to disappoint our welcoming committee, would we?" Batman explained. Spidey raised an eyebrow under his mask.
"Are you sure you're okay? Don't recall you being the type to make jokes." Batman said nothing.
Spidey examined the costume. It was super thin- thin enough that he could put it on over his normal costume. A soon as he put it on, the dull orange glow turned much brighter and vibrant, and a small heat wave breathed into him. He put the mask on, and looked over at Batman.
He too was putting the armour on over his normal suit. Once he had put all the parts on, they all clicked together, connecting to one another, leaving little to no weak spots. He put his utility belt on over it. He then grabbed the cowl and put it over his normal one, and the armoured suit's transparent lenses turning into a dark blue. He pressed a button on the side of the cowl and two lenses slid down over his eyes. He looked around.
"Twenty eight hostiles, surrounding the ship." He observed. Peter snapped his head back to him.
"TWENTY EIGHT?" He exclaimed. "You said at least a dozen!"
"Then their base must be nearby if they can deploy troops without us noticing this quickly." He explained. "Don't rely sorely on the armour, it can only take a certain number of hits, and it isn't particularly strong against explosions. Are you ready?"
Spidey nodded his head, and Batman's mouth guard slid on, as he proceeded to slide the side door open.
They were met with a large wave of gunfire. The bullets bounced harmlessly off his armour, but Spider-Man remembered what Batman had said. Both he and Bruce jumped at their assailants. Whereas Spidey dodged bullets, fired webs and pulled enemies into his fist, Batman was more straight up- he was in the middle of a group of seven of them, grabbing weapons and hitting people with them. One of them came up behind him with a pistol, but Batman blocked the shot to his head with his hand, turned around, grabbed the gun off the guard and hit him over the head with it.
Spidey shot a web at someone's face, and pulled them into a gunman trying to get up. He struck another of them in the face, and elbowed another.
Another gunman pulled his pistol out on Batman, but he grabbed his wrist, head butted him, and then proceeded to grab the back of his knees and flip him onto his back, just before finishing him off with a punch to the face. He pulled a Batarang out of his belt and threw it at the guard about to hit Spider-Man in the face with the butt of his gun. He fell to the ground, and Parker kicked him across the face.
A squad of three emerged from behind them, the lead holding a minigun. The two heroes jumped out of the way and behind the Tri-Wing.
"Great, we're pinned down." Spidey said, looking around the corner just before one of the other gunmen fired a few bullets at them with a machine gun. He quickly whipped his head back around and against the aircraft. A few more men got up from the ground, picking up their weapons and facing the aircraft. "Any ideas would be fantastic right about now."
"I have one." Bruce replied, pressing a few buttons on his gauntlet, and then a button on his utility belt. From the other side of the Tri-Wing, a large cloud of smoke puffed out. The gunmen began coughing, their vision blurred. The two then jumped over the aircraft and into the crowd of LexCorp guards. Batman snatched the minigun out of the lead's hands, and proceeded to hit him in the stomach with it, as well as hitting another guard across the face with it too. Another gunman shot him in the back multiple times, but Batman didn't even flinch. Instead, he dropped the minigun and pounced onto him, kicking him across the face and into the snow.
Another guard charged at Spidey from behind, but Parker jumped over him last second, sending him charging into another one of his own teammates, with Batman hitting them both whilst they were down. The last one appeared behind the aircraft, aiming his gun at Spider-Man, who shot a web at a gun lying on the ground, spinning around and hitting him across the face with it. Stretching, Spidey looked over at the Bat.
"Looks like we're done here." Peter said, looking around at the unconscious guards around them. "Now, time to go find this base."
"Not yet." Batman shook his head. He picked two guards up and walked towards the aircraft. "We need to get the guards into the Tri-Wing- otherwise, they'll freeze to death. Come on, put them in the storage room."
"You sure there's enough space in there?" Spidey asked, picking a couple up for himself.
"I didn't say they needed to be comfortable."
