Spider-Man and Spawn sprinted down the corridors, quickly taking down guards along the way with webs, powers and brute strength. They stopped sprinting once the corridor lights went out.
"That doesn't look good." Spidey commented.
"No... it does not." Simmons agreed. Suddenly, Spidey felt something. The hairs on the back of his arms stood on end and he widened his eyes.
"DOWN!" He shouted, tackling Spawn to the floor with great effort, just as a figure pounced past them. The assailant skidded on the floor, and used their claws to slow themselves down. They turned around to the duo, and let out a snarl.
"You can't be serious." Spidey shook his head. "A human cat?"
"Your ignorance is almost as irritating as your ability to sense anything coming your way." The woman snarled. "I am the Cheetah."
Peter paused. "Aren't they the same thing almost?"
"You make jokes to try and distract your opponent from the battle." Cheetah observed. Spidey shrugged.
"Hey, it worked."
Cheetah smiled, and grabbed Spawn's head, who had managed the sneak up behind her. She threw him over at Spider-Man, who just managed to dodge him. She pounced at the spider, slashing at him. He let out a yell as the claws cut his skin, sending him tumbling backwards.
"Your attempt at a distraction did not work." Cheetah said. "Anything else?"
"Yeah." Spidey mumbled. "How about-" and he webbed her shoulder, and pulled her towards him. She cut the line just as she got within a meter of him, and went to kick him across the face. However, one of Spawn's chains grabbed her leg and threw her across the room. She rolled on her side, but quickly got up and snarled.
"You're done for." Spawn said, striding over to her. He fired and energy blast, which she dodged. Spider-Man, however sneaked up behind her and kicked her towards Spawn, who grabbed her and threw her into a wall. He then fired another blast of energy, which sent her through the wall and into a laboratory of sorts. The two followed in through the hole.
"You're finished." Spawn growled. "Don't make this any more trouble than it already is."
"You mistake me for somebody who'll cower to your petty threats." She replied. She lunged at the two, claws slashing through the air. She slashed Spawn across the face and tackled Spidey down. He threw her off of him with his legs, and quickly recovered. The slashes across Simmons' face were rapidly closing up, healing almost instantly. Al turned to Cheetah.
"That was a mistake..." he said, a chain lunging at her, grabbing her by the neck and pulling her towards him. The chain withdrew and he threw her against the wall, closely followed by a forceful kick to the face, which sent her through the wall and back into the corridor. Spidey walked back up beside him.
"Is she...?" He asked. Spawn turned his head to him.
"She's alive, by some 'miracle'." He replied. His emerald eyes began to burn up, a sharp hissing sound coming from them. Peter knew what he was about to do.
"Al- don't." He pleaded. "There's no reason to- and we're wasting enough time as it is." Simmons' eyes stopped burning, and he turned to the Spider.
"Have it your way." He said, and they continued down the corridor.
