~chapter 1~

First day jitters, for some people, but for me, every day brings jitters. I'm the nerd, the nobody, the "ew who's she?". No one ever asks me how I feel, or my opinions, they just leave me out of it. Sometimes that's ok, other times, no so much.

My white iPhone vibrates signaling I have a text, which is weird, who would text me?

"Hey loser dinners ready" it says

My lovely brother, ladies and gentleman. The hockey star, the player, every girl drools over him. Why? I don't know.

All I know is that he could at least come upstairs to my room to tell me dinners ready. Or that he's my brother and he could treat me like a person, hahaha no.

I walk out of my poster filled bedroom, down the carpeted stairs, and into the kitchen.

"What are we having?" I asked my oh so loving mother.

"Look in the pot and see, that's how you use your eyes." she retorted. Harsh, someone had a bad day at work.

I walk over to the grey pot on the stove and see spaghetti, ew. I know I know, I'm weird that I don't like spaghetti, but the texture freaks me out. It looks like worms in a bowl.

"Where's dad?" I ask cautiously, knowing Mom had a had a bad day at work.

"He's working late tonight" she replies in a 'I'm trying to be happy' tone. My dad works late almost every night of the week, and when he is home, he's sleeping because he's tired.

"Tess, go have a seat at the table and I'll bring the spaghetti to you" mom says. Usually she'll call me Tess, tessy, or just T. But when she's really mad she yells "Tessa Elizabeth!" Even though my name isn't Tessa, it's Tess.
