Jon’s POV

Fishing with Jen and Lina had to be the most fun that I have had in a long time despite the constant bickering between me and Jen; truth be told it was all in good fun and we enjoyed every second of it. I was quickly learning that Jen wasn’t used to people throwing insults back at her when she dished them out and I knew it got under her skin that I could match her evenly insult for insult; even though it threw her off at first that I would actually insult her back she quickly got used to it and we made it into a little game. We were having the time of our lives throwing words back and forth but Lina didn’t seem to enjoy it much as she threatened to drown us both in the lake if we didn’t shut up; we laughed it off but both tried our best to shut up just in case she was serious, if I learned anything about Lina it was to never underestimate her and I wouldn’t put it past her to tie some anchors to our feet and drop us to the bottom of the lake just so she could have some time to relax and tan.

The fact that Lina was sprawled out on the bow of the boat in nothing more than a tiny little black bikini was probably the best part about the whole trip, well the best view at least. I can’t deny that it was hard for me to concentrate on what I was doing when my eyes wanted to go back to the beauty in black on the front of the boat. Jen caught me looking a few times and I earned myself a few hard punches to the shoulder and hand motion telling me to keep my eyes on my pole and not on Lina; I was sure that my shoulder might be slightly bruised from how hard she hit me. These southern girls really knew how to throw a punch, I would hate to actually have one of them really get pissed at me; I have a feeling I would walk away looking like I just stepped out of the ring with Muhammad Ali.

I was having such a great time out on the lake with the girls that I really didn’t want to go back in but it was getting really hot and the Texas sun was blazing down like it had a mission to roast everything in its path; after we got back to the farm Jen headed home and Lina offered to take me hunting the next day. I had never been hunting before but it was something that I had planned on doing with my dad someday; I figured if it was something he enjoyed doing the least I could do was try it out. I had shot a few guns before but never really had any practice aiming and absolutely no practice shooting anything with a heartbeat so Lina thought it would be best if we got in a little target practice before we went and headed up to the house to gets some guns.

I took a quick shower and changed clothes before meeting Lina back down at the barn; she had already loaded a few guns and ammo into the back of the side-by-side and once we were both on she drove us to the back of her property where they had a small shooting range set up. It took me some time to get used to how the rifles worked since I had only used a handgun before but Lina was a great teacher and within about an hour I think I had it all down. Lina definitely made me feel like an amateur though once we started target shooting; she was dead on with every single shot, not a single one hit outside the middle circle. Me, well, let’s just say at least I was able to hit the paper but I had a lot of work to do if I was ever going to compete against her in a shooting contest. By the end of the day I think I got the gist of how everything worked but I didn’t know if I was actually going to be able to hit anything when we actually went hunting the next day.

I felt like I had just closed my eyes when there was a knock at the door waking me up; I groaned rolling over and looking at the clock, it read 4:30 A.M. Who the hell is at my door at four thirty in the morning? I rolled out of bed and rubbed the sleep out of my eyes as the person knocked again growing impatient with my slow pace; what did they expect this early in the morning? Not bothering to put on any clothes other than the boxers I was currently wearing I made my way to the door and answered it just as the person knocked again; I yawned tiredly as I opened the door to find a smiling Lina on the other side.
