After watching Cal's Gym battle, Ash was even more pumped up to have his own. He could hardly contain his excitement as he walked out onto battlefield and Roxanne couldn't help but comment on it.

"Ash you look like your ready to explode out of sheer excitement; you really haven't changed that much since we last fought, have you?"

Ash grinned and unclipped a Poké Ball from his belt. "Your about to see how much me and my Pokémon have grown since our last match." He said with confidence as he tossed the ball onto the field.

"Sceptile let's show her just strong we've gotten!"

From the ball emerged a raptor like Pokémon; his skin was entirely green minus a red rectangle on his belly and semi circle under his chin. On both his arms was leafy foliage, that matched the leafy tree like tail he had; running down his back were six yellow orbs that looked like bulbs. When he landed on the ground he let out a roar of challenge before putting a twig in his mouth.

There was no mistaking that this Sceptile was the same Pokémon as the Treecko that Roxanne had been beaten here years ago, and he had a wicked gleam in his eyes that spoke wonders about his determination not to lose again.

Roxanne chuckled at his determination, knowing just how much fun this battle was bound to be. "Alright Ash if you're going full throttle then so will I! Probopass, lets give it all we got!"

Roxanne tossed a Poké Ball into the air and out from it came a Pokémon that looked similar to Nosepass, but with some striking differences. For instance, Probopass had no legs and was just hovering above the ground, it also had a bushy black mustache under his nose and a large red magnet that was acting as a hat. Instead of the arm like appendages its pre-evolutions had, Probopass had three bird like heads on the left, right, and back of its berry blue body.

The two Pokémon looked each other dead in the eyes, they had never fought before but that wasn't going to deter either one from giving their all to beat the living daylights out of each other. This is what they lived for, the chance to test the truest extents of their strength in one on one combat; who the victor or looser of the match came second rate to whether or not they gave it their all. Even their trainers didn't seem concerned about who would come out on top; they just wanted to clash swords, test each other's metal and put their skills to the test.

The battle began with an explosion of speed as Sceptile leapt from boulder to boulder, gaining momentum as he went. Right before he reached Probopass Ash called out for him to use Leaf Blade, and Sceptile crossed his arms as the leafy foliage on the outside of his forearms elongated and turned into sharp grassy green blades. The attack made direct contact with Probopass but the Pokémon barely flinched from the blow.

Sceptile backflipped over to his trainer and stood close to Ash as they analyzed their probing attack.

"Looks like its defense is pretty sturdy." Ash whispered to his reptilian partner. "I guess that leaves us with two options, continue to hack at its defenses until it submits, or try a more unique approach. What do you think bud?"

Sceptile looked back at his trainer a gleam of mischief in his eyes. "Tile, Sceptile!" He said, giving Ash all the answer he needed.

"Your right, unique is definitely our style. Alright Sceptile, use Leaf Blade and cut off the top of those boulders!"

Sceptile obeyed with overzealous enthusiasm, slicing through three boulders with one fell swoop. As he and the boulder caps fell to the ground his trainer issued his next order. "Now use Bullet Seed and send those rocks hurtling at Probopass!"

Sceptile readily obeyed and sent the rocks flying towards Probopass, with an escort of high velocity seeds following close behind. The attack was on a direct path with Roxanne's Probopass and would have undoubtedly done a substantial deal of damage, but the female Gym leader had other plans.
