I awake to the sound of pounding. Slightly melodic, but sharp, and clear. The noise drones on, and on, consistent, never seeming to end.

Why am I here? Where the hell am I?

I hear footsteps.

Who's there?

A man in a white hazmat suit walks in. We are in glass, capsule like chambers, thousands line the walls and each one contains a person. I scan the area in search for a familiar face. Capsules, as far as the eyes can see, stretch along the hall but there are no signs of Josh, Amber, or Chase. Everybody seems to be unconscious except for me and two others. I find the source of the banging. A girl is pounding at the glass and has been for who knows how long. Her knuckles are bruised and bloodied but she keeps on pounding persistently. A boy is on the floor, silently sobbing and muttering hysterically. The words are too jumbled to make out. He makes no attempt to escape, he simply lays curled up in a fetal position on the floor, rocking back and forth, back and forth, with no intention to stop.

The man who is in the white hazmat suit finally begins to near. He approaches the chamber where the poor boy lay. He opens the door and he aims his tube, connected to his gas pack, at the child. I expect him to waver, pause, show some form of human emotions, but I see none. Without any indication of guilt, no hesitation whatsoever, he sprays the boy. I anticipate the gray mist I saw before, but instead, blood red mist appears out of the tube, engulfing the boy in the opaque air. Though it comes after only it's target-the boy.

The mist thins out and fades in the air now. The boy disappears along with it, no corpse left in the mist's angry wake. The mist takes and leaves but a lingering air of eeriness.

The man in the hazmat suit continues to walk down the hall. He has not reached my chamber yet but he was getting closer by the second, his footsteps ringing in my ear.

Suddenly the sound of glass cracking splinters the air. The man doesn't seem to be bothered by the noise. He moves robotically, almost as if he's being mind controlled.

Zombie.

That seems to match the best description for him. Like a mindless slave.

A silence fills the air. The banging continues again, still as loud and rhythmic as before. The man stops by another capsule. This time it's the girl. I look at her capsule and unlike before, it is broken. Cracked.

Now another loud crack. This time the banging never continues. A small, jagged opening is now left in the glass. She looks down at her hands. She has horrible glass splinters, multiple glass shards sticking out of her hands. They shake as the girl aims another punch at the glass. Upon impact, she immediately withdraws her hand, shrieking in pain. Now, tears trailing down her face, she yells in frustration. It was a ghoulish noise. A sound of agony and hopelessness.

As the man begins to take aim, the girl looks at him with acceptance in her eyes. As if she has done all she could and even though nothings worked, she doesn't care. As if she had accepted her fate since the beginning. Its scares me how quickly she gave up.

The red mist takes her away as well. The man continues down the hall, every step bringing him closer to me. I can hear my heart banging in my chest, and every breath ringing in my ears.

Think Audrey, think! What was different about those people? Shit he's getting closer. Think, think, think!

I scan the room once more.

Well everyone's asleep. Er... everyone but me. Hmmm. Me... and the others who got sprayed. So now all I have to do is pretend to be asleep. Easy enough.

I close my eyes and force my breaths to come out slowly and calmly.

How the hell am I supposed to slow down my racing heart? F*ck he's here.

After one agonizingly long minute, I allow my eyes to open. I scan the room once more. I see no sign of the man and I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding in.

I hear a hiss of air from above me. I look up. Mist is coming through small slits on the top of my capsule. I look around and realize that this is happening to all of the people in the capsules.

F*cking hell! Not this again!

They're spraying us all. We're all going to disappear along with those two people that got misted.

Wait... the mist isn't tinted red or gray like the ones previous, this time it's colored baby blue.

I take a whiff of it and as soon as I do, my senses become overwhelmed. I smell lavenders, taste vanilla, hear a sweet lullaby, feel as though I'm laying on a bed of feathers, and I see a night sky filled with stars on a new moon. Soon, the mist gets the best of me and my breathing grows heavy, my eyes flutter shut, and I drift off into a deep, dreamless sleep.
