Chapter Two.

Craig Jensen regularly escaped to the alleyways to resist and evacuate from his invasive, messed up family. Or what remained of it. So once it was around 5 in the afternoon, the dark haired male took it upon himself to take the rather longer path back home, perhaps crossing the alleyways as well.

The wind flew past his raven parka making his hood fall off his head, which immediately pulled up. He never took his coat off in public. He didn't know why, but he just didn't. He then had remembered the friend he had made. Excluding the fact that Cole was being slightly rude, the guy seemed approachable and nice to him.

He also made a slight mockery of himself by flushing. Of course he didn't do it on purpose, but that did stop him regretting his reddening cheeks from the day before. The groups of high schoolers evoked a uproarious amount of noise regulating near the entrance. Cole had never taken it to much consideration at how exclusive he was, because it never really had a chance to experience a time where it did need a regard to.

He didn't have any friends, but what was the point anyways? They would just hold him down. But the guy that he met in the alleyways was a certain exception. Somehow, Craig felt an urge, an unusual irk to befriend this stranger he met the day before. No doubt, was his friend good looking, but that didn't taunt or even taint him in any way. He just seemed like the type of person to be friendly.

Craig surprisingly took a regard to the fact that his friend walked through the alleyways by himself. Of course, rumors, pseudo myths and lies, repel people and taint their open minded selfs from taking the alleyways, but truly it wasn't bad, and perhaps exaggerated stories of incidents really exacerbated the matter.

Truthfully speaking, the only things that actually occurred in the alleyways were occasional drunk men, gargling and dispersing a glossary of words, and could be easily avoided and ignored. From Craig's experience, the only time he actually needed to evacuate the place was when some dude was trying to get in his pants. An incident which would forever remain in his scarred mind. Especially as he was new to the place.

So, if his newly made friend went through here, then he must be an optimistic person. Or lonely. Either way, Craig thought it was okay to befriend a person like that, and luckily he agreed. Although Craig failed to ask for his name, he had a vague guess that he was perhaps named Jake so he portrayed him as that, even though there was a big chance that he was false. So Jake was his friend's name for now, unless he did happen to meet 'Jake' again, then of course then it would soon become clear.

Craig dug his cold, thin hands in his pockets and breathed a heavy breath as he progressed into the alleyway, casting out a hazy fog of mist transcend through the disturbing wind.
The strong odor that indulged Craig's nose was a notorious smell that Craig's had gotten use to and as he planted his bag on the floor.

He half expected Jake to walk through now, but that had not been fulfilled. He didn't know why he urged the young, handsome fellow to come over, but he just did. The voices from outside began to dim as their natural light source began a gradual process of disappearing. Craig bit his lip and pulled out his phone. He had a minimal  amount of games, but they kept him entertained even if they were rage inducing.

"Hello, my new friend" the voice of 'Jake' had certainly startled the raven haired boy into jumping and almost dropping his phone. The low chuckle belonging to 'Jake' made Craig want to punch something, but fought the sudden temptation.

"Fuck" Craig breathed, glancing at the brown haired guy a few steps in front of him. A few silent seconds went by.
"You didn't tell me your name yesterday" Jake stated, his brown eyes locking onto Craig's. Craig shrugged.
"You didn't tell me yours". Jake keeps quiet, and leans unto a wall next to Craig. The silence was deafening.

"Ryan" he says, finally. Craig looked as if he didn't give a crap, but nodded his head attentively. Ryan was nice, but Jake suit him better.
"Craig" he says as well. Ryan smirks, a large, Cheshire Cat smirk, which exposed his dimpled cheek. A pair of hazel eyes looked at it, slightly curious. Craig cleared his throat, digs his hand into his pockets and grabs his bag from the floor, pulling it against his back. Ryan eyes lingered towards him.

"So, I must get going now" Craig said, a slight sigh conjoining with his voice. Ryan raised himself up from the wall as soon as Craig began to walk away from him and walked towards him, his hair slightly colliding with his face as he did so. Craig, unintentionally slowed his pace down, but didn't stop progressively making his way out.

"Can I-can I walk with you?" Ryan asked. Craig was as hesitant to answer yet shrugs. He personally didn't mind, although he was an introverted and socially awkward kid who happened to be a loner as well.
"So, which school do you got to?" Craig asked.

"Nelson's High. I'm a sophomore there, you?" Ryan said. Craig raised his eyebrows. Coincidently, they went to the same high school. Well Craig was starting tomorrow. A couple walked past, smiling at both of them. Both seem to look older than them, with one with fiery red hair and the other brown. Craig stared at them and Ryan smiled back. They continued walking, both wondering if they had known them before but with no such recollection.

"Same" Craig replied, afterwards. Ryan nodded, rubbing his cold hands together, creating friction. Craig looked up and stared at the sky, stopping abruptly. Ryan follows Craig's glance.
"What is it?" Ryan asked. Craig doesn't respond, but sighs deeply and continues walking. The stars had not come out yet, which had disappointed him.

"Nothing, I was just um, being weird" Craig said as Ryan followed, smiling to himself. He liked the fact that Craig was full of unexpectedness.
"Weird is unique" Ryan said. Craig gave a slight shrug.
"What's your favorite color?" Ryan asked, after a few seconds of silent walking. Ryan could spot his house, but he decides to continue walking until he reached Craig's, because he was just like that.

"Navy" Craig answered. Ryan nodded.
"I would have guessed black" Ryan said. Craig looked at him.
"Why black?" As if it wasn't that obvious, well to Ryan.
"I don't know" Ryan decided to not explain why, else it would have made him sound like a weirdo. Even if it was unique. Now, the stars had started to appear, creating freckles of bright dots of light to cover the dark sky.

"Well there's my cue" Craig sighed, after stopping at an array of flats and houses. Ryan smiled.
"I'll hope to see you soon, then" Ryan said, waving goodbye as Craig entered his house. As soon as Craig entered, he quickly went up to his room, locking the door.

He dislodged his big window and climbed through it, entering the roof with ease. Craig lets the cold, cool breeze calm him and stared up at the majestically dotted sky, captivating every beautiful moment.
