There's a sickness inside me,
And it tears me apart,
The longer I'm here,
The weaker I get.

Trees zoom past the car as we make our way from a small homophobic town in Kansas to the big mountain forests of Virginia. The drive was long, and not something I want to repeat. It was tiring, to stay awake throughout the eight-teen hour drive, but I was determined to show my parents I was as healthy as my brothers.

In the small mini-van sat my mother, Anna, and three of my brothers, Sebastian, Saber, and Shawn and let's not forget me. Jayden. I am the youngest in the car and the most sickly, hell, I'm the only sickly. The Mini-Van had the rest of the seats crammed with luggage, pillows, blankets, and sports equipment.

My father Austin, and the rest of my brothers, Sean, Seth, Samuel, and Sawyer, were in the Dodge, a four door, long bed truck, with four-wheel-drive. The long bed of the truck was packed full of hunting and fishing gear, along with what couldn't fit in the van.

We were on our way to live with our aunt Andy and her well of husband, David. Their house was huge, if my memory served me right. They had three kids Darcy, Olive, and Jake. Unlike my mother, my aunt and uncle weren't obsessed with having most of their children connected with more than blood.

"Jayden, honey, maybe you should go lye down when we get there, you look mighty pale." My mother says, worriedly.

"Mom, I'm going to help get the luggage in. I may be sick, but I'm not helpless." I say softly, I don't feel like being angry right now.

"Baby, you haven't slept the whole way, even your brothers have taken a little nap." She lied, I knew she just wanted me to give in, but I'm not a kid. I know the other boys hadn't slept a wink, they all had stayed awake, sending little glances towards me here and there. I can feel their beady eyes on me every ten seconds, making sure I'm not dead yet.

"I haven't been sleeping well the last few weeks, just like everyone else. Now isn't any different." I yawn slowly.

We pull into the driveway before my mother can say anything else, as I jump out of the car I hear the familiar voices of my cousins growing nearer. Darcy, the eldest of the trio, spotted me and started running to me. We had always been the closest of our cousins. I hugged her, my heart hurting that I will one day be forced out of this world and away from my best friend.

"Hey DeeDee," I say softly, "I've missed you so much."

"I've missed you too,  Jay. I can't believe we're finally living together! I have so many plans for-" her voice fades as my head drops to her shoulders, my eyelids feeling as heavy as my math textbook.

"Jayden? Jayden! Are you okay? Oh god please answer me, Jay!?" I jump as I hear Darcy's frantic voice in my ear.

Lifting my head I look around, everyone's eyes seemed to be on me, as if waiting for me to crumble. But I refuse to let them see my pain, they don't need to worry about me. I'm fine, I'll override this sickness and die happy and with the man of my dreams by my side.

I grab my luggage from the back of the van and walk pass everyone with my head down. Things just kept getting worse.
