I woke up to the scent of the sweet perfume of Adila. I rolled over in my bed and watched as my wife brushed through her hair. I then pulled my focus to examine over my room which was decorated with such beautiful gold things and on the walls were full of prized weapons and painting of my family. The furniture consisted of the essential things such as dressers, a desk, and a vanity. The bed in which I laid in was coated with gold and before the bed was a lounge couch. Beyond our bedroom was a bathing room and a closet. I rubbed my eyes clear of sleep and began to get up. Adila had realized that I was awake and turned to me.

"It's their fiftieth birthday," Adila told me as she continued working on her hair. I ran my fingers through my hair and cleared my throat. I shook my head, who was turning fifty? Oh Fern and Fillions birthday was today.

"They have grown up so much. Mallah we are getting old," I commented as I began to to get up. I pulled my night shirt off and looked in the mirror. I looked at my scarred body, I had scars from being whipped, mauled at by wargs, and sword fights. I found my undershirt on a chair and pulled it over my beaten up body. I pulled on another layer of trousers. Adila had finished brushing her long hair and was now putting on some powder to make her face appear younger. I pulled on some of the heavier clothes over my basic under clothes. I looked in the mirror to find that my hair was like a birds nest. I grabbed my brush and brushed through my long blonde hair and began to braid some parts of it. When my hair looked suitable I turned to Adila who was having some difficulty putting on her corset. I walked over to her and pulled the corset strings. As I pulled on it Adila lost her breath.

"No matter how many times I do this, I always love the little gasp you make," I commented as I finished pulling the strings. I tied the strings together and I helped Adila put on her commoner dress. Today was a special day because my twins were of age to begin their royal work. Fern would be trained to become a princess ready to be married off and Fillion was to stand at my side of the throne. Adila turned around and gave me a sad look.

"What is it," I asked as I cocked my head a bit. Her lip began to quiver and then she turned away to let a few tears fall from her eyes.

"I never thought the day would come when they turned fifty. It feels just like yesterday we were all four traveling to the mountain. Fili, where has the time gone," Adila replied full of sadness. I grabbed her my the hand and pulled her towards me. She was surprised by such actions and stumbled into my arms. I held her closely to my chest.

"Time has come and gone," I answered as I held her. I could feel a tear drop onto my arm. I knew my wife was upset at the fact that the twins were older now. Every birthday it seemed to get worse. Just then a knock came from the door. I gave out a sigh and let go of Adila. I walked over to the door and pulled it open. It was a guard, he was here to inform me of something that would pull me away from my family.

"Your highness, Prince Kili asks for your assistance. For he has woken up from his wounds," the guard informed me. I turned back to Adila and blew her a kiss. Adila knew that I had to leave and nodded. I then left the room, and went down the hall to my brothers room. Two guards stood in front of his bedroom door, and one then opened it for me. I walked into the bedroom. Tauriel, his wife, was slouched over his bed. I cleared my throat so that she knew that she was in the presence of the King. Tauriel got up quickly and began to bow as I removed such actions by throwing my hand into the air and waving it. I heard Kili give a weak cough. I went over to the aid of my brother. He looked weak, and since we were getting older he looked as if he no longer had the strength to get better. His right arm was bandaged and his neck was bandaged, also. Kili had become a much better looking dwarf, his beard had come in and was plentiful. His eyes were still young and energetic, but his body couldn't keep up with his eyes. He had been sick for a few years, he would cough up blood. I was fearful of losing my younger brother, but I knew that he had many years left in him.
