Technically, this isn't really misunderstood, but I had to post an analysis about this before the anti decides to target this.
When Naruto is fighting against Gaara, Sakura is pinned to a tree. But why? Because she tried to protect Sasuke - even if the attack could've have killed her. I admit, at the start of the series, it was only a crush - and then it started to grow bigger and bigger from the Forest of Death (now called Forest of Blossoming Love) to the point that Sakura was ready to sacrifice herself.
A simple crush would not let you do that. Besides that, do you think that Sakura would just do it for Sasuke to like her? That's absurd, really. There was even a high chance of her dying, and she probably won't risk it that early in the series - Shippuden, yes, but I can't say about that arc.
Other than that, when Sasuke was in the hospital later on due to his injuries, Tsunade notes that Sakura visited him everyday. Cute, right?
