"What the hell is on your face, Jocelyn?!" my mom shouted when I got home. Come on Jo, make up a lie. "I got hit with a basketball. Don't worry mom, I'll be fine," I said.

She looked at me, "So the principal called. She told me you weren't going to detention. Jocelyn you have five seconds to explain to me why you have detention for three days," she said with a hint of madness.

Just as I was going to explain the situation, Luke comes down. We looked at him and he looked at us back, he then slowly went back upstairs.

"Yesterday, some girl tripped me at lunch, leaving me with food all over myself. I got angry and slammed her face on the table," I smiled sheepishly. My mom screamed at me at least five minutes, and that I was grounded.
I went to my room and sat on the window bench, looking at the sky. A faint knock on a window interrupted my sky watching. I saw Shawn at his window mouthing words that I didn't understand. I quickly got up from the bench and searched for a notebook and marker from one of the boxes.

I wrote, "Sorry I can't read lips", and held it up against the window for Shawn to see it. He read it and left to grab a notebook and marker too.
"Hey, I heard yelling. You okay?"

"I'm fine. My mom found out that I skipped detention from slamming Rebecca's face on the table:/"

"Lmao. I heard rumors about that"

"Yea. Text me so I can save your number and I can FaceTime you"

We stopped our window conversations and face timed each other. I grabbed one of the boxes that said memories and opened it up. On the phone, Shawn was eating muffins which I envied.

"Hey Shawn, there's so many photos, scrapbooks, and even letters in this box," I said with astonishment, showing him the box. He ended the call to see it himself. Shawn came with sweats and a vans hoodie.

I dumped the whole contents out of the box and saw a picture of me and a boy smiling at the camera, probably at age ten.

"It's me and a boy that I can't remember. Wait, it's coming at me now, oh yea we were best friends until I left to Europe. I wonder how he's doing," I wondered and looked through more photos.

I looked up at Shawn who froze, "Woah, that's weird," he said. I picked up some photos and all I saw was pictures of me and that boy. Adventures with him. Sleepovers with him. Then I picked up a photo that I remembered taking on my last day before moving to Europe.

"I'm going to miss you, Muffin. You know that right?" I trembled with sadness.
We hugged each other tight, "I know, Jo. I'll miss you too. Just promise when you come visit or move back here, we'll be best friends again," Shawn said.
He opened his palm that revealed a necklace and on the back it said "3/24/08" The day we became best friends. He put it on me and hugged me again. I took my camera out and took a picture of us. The necklace sparkling in the sun.

It all came back to me. The sadness, pain, and anger just washing over me. I dropped the photo and looked at Shawn. "Muffin?" I questioned.

I looked into his brown eyes and saw confusion. "Muffin? What kind of nickname is that?" he laughed. He doesn't remember. No, no, no that can't happen. I was only gone for three years. My heart was slowly breaking.
"I uh um hold on," I said. I grabbed the photo and dashed downstairs.

My mom was sitting on the couch, watching a movie. "Mom?" Her attention was on me.
I waved the photo in the air, "Why didn't you tell me that Shawn was my best friend all along?" I croaked.

She frowned, "Honey, that day we left for Europe, Karen called me that Manny and Shawn was in a car accident. Manny was fine but Shawn not so much. He took most of the impact. The doctors told them that he had a little bit of amnesia."

I fell down on my knees, "This is not happening. No, Shawn didn't get in an accident. He would've called me if he did. HE WOULD'VE," I sobbed.

My mom wrapped her arms around me, "His parents asked him about you one day and he couldn't remember. Couldn't remember nothing about you guys friendship."

Shawn went downstairs, "Hey Jo, my mom called your mom and said I could sleepover. That's weird because-," he stopped when he saw me, all eyes puffy and tear stains on my face.
"What's wrong? Did someone eat your muffins?" he said concerned.

I chuckled softly, "Do you not remember this photo?" I picked up the photo from the floor and gave it to Shawn.

"Am I suppose to? I don't remember none of it," he confessed, looking guilty for not remembering it. I unhook my mom's arms from me and put my hands on his wrists since our height differences was huge. "Shawn, me and you were best friends. When I was going to Europe, you got in an accident which caused you not to remember me. Okay?" I shed a tear and gave him a sad smile.

He quickly wiped it off my face and hugged me. For the rest of the night, I told him stories about our adventures and memories together. We laughed, cried, and laughed some more.
An idea came into mind, and knocked on Luke's door. Luke was shirtless when he opened the door. "Luke, put a shirt on," I disgustedly said with a look on my face.

"Is that why you came here, to insult me?" he asked.

"No, I came here for your guitar," I walked to where his acoustic guitar was and quickly took it and went out the room.

"Be careful with my baby," Luke hollered when I went in my room.

Shawn was holding a necklace that I haven't worn since I gave up contacting Shawn. "Is this the necklace I got you in the photo you first showed me?" he questioned.

I nodded. He put it on the night stand and saw what I was holding.

"Can I play it?" he said with a cheeky smile. "That's why I brought it here but first we need to change into our pjs," I said with a grin.

I went to my bathroom while Shawn went to the other one. I came out of the bathroom and we both looked at what we're wearing. We were wearing a regular shirt with the same Harry Potter sweats, and we laughed. I lay on my bed and Shawn grabbed the guitar.

"So what song do you want me to play, Jo?" I know this song that he always sang to me when he slept over here.

"Wanted by Hunter Hayes," I said.
He smiled and played some chords before singing, "You know I'd fall apart without you.I don't know how you do what you do.'Cause everything that don't make sense about me. Makes sense when I'm with you..." His voice became stronger after these years.

My eyes started to close. I kept fluttering my eyes but fought it because I wanted to hear the whole song. Right when he was done, I let the darkness swallow me. The last thing I heard was Shawn saying goodnight.
