"Alright, you already know what Dad does?" David asked the boy in front of him, his face lit up orange in the roaring light of the fire.

"Can't we do this in the morning?" Matt moaned and then yawned.

   "You ate way too much."

"Mum says you can't run on an empty stomach," The boy calling himself, 'The Doctor' smiled sleepily.

"You can't run on an full stomach either..." David rolled his eyes "You get cramps."

   Matt squinted, "What?"

David's left eyebrow raised, clearly expecting an answer to the previous question.

The Doctor sighed, wanting to finish this and go to bed. "Yes, I know what Dad does, he works at the ministry in the Department of Mysteries," he continued "Our family makes time-turners from the sand outside our house."

                                               OOO

   Dean Winchester couldn't sleep.

Which was a first for him, he was always sleeping, and he didn't want to be known as the kid who cried on the first day because he missed his "mommy".

Well of course he missed his mom! And his Dad, and his Metallica...

He didn't want to be worrying about Sammy, he could obviously take care of himself. The weirdo was probably still up, studying or talking about Star Wars or whatever it was that nerds did in groups.

His thoughts drifted back to the Gryffindor tower.

Dean was a ladies man, his mother would always say, and even though he still didn't know what that meant, it was true.

Lavender Brown had giggled when he had caught her staring at him, and the Patil's (two Arab identical twins) had waved at him and were thrown into a fit of giggles when he waved back.

He didn't know if he should have felt annoyed or victorious over this event.

The boys in Gryffindor were another matter.

He would have to watch out for the Weasley twins, he had seen them during dinner and was all too reminded of the time they had given him an Acid Pop saying it was just lime flavoured. It had burnt a hole straight through his tongue, and his mother had to rush him to St. Mungo's. He supposed it was to be funny, and they had been new to pranks at the time, so he didn't particularly mind. But they had gotton a stern talking to from their mother. They had thanked him for being such a good sport about it though.

Then there was the other boys in Gryffindor.

Dean Thomas knew alot about football (soccer), more than anyone Dean had ever known, and his best friend, Seamus Finnegan, told the funniest stories. Mostly about his Dad and his discovery of magic. Ronald Weasley was still adamant about the Chudley Cannons actually winning for once, which was a more impossible feat than aliens.

Then of course, there was Castiel, who was an enigma wrapped in another enigma. But he was still his friend, all the same.

Harry Potter wasn't as grand a person as Dean thought he was, but instead he seemed to be just as confused as any muggleborn.

At least he's not a total jerk, Dean thought wanting to be treated like a celebrity would get him beat up.

At least he didn't act like Malfoy did, that little prat.

                                                  OOO

The Sorting ceremony was as dull as Sherlock had thought it would be. John Watson managed to make it ever so slightly enjoyable, by turning out to be even more sarcastic than he.

For this reason, he decided to continue their little 'friendship', mostly for these snide comments.

Also it would get his dear brother off his case.

There were very few people who Sherlock had deemed interesting at the Sorting, and Harry Potter was not exactly on that list.

Castiel Novak, Gryffindor, has many siblings, though none in Gryffindor. Might suffer from headaches, from the way his face was puckered, or worrying about something, maybe both.

Matt Smith, also a Gryffindor, has an older brother, his family held a secret.

What it was, he had no idea.

Sam and Dean Winchester were not as interesting as the two boys before, but had attracted his attention no less.

They seemed incredibly codependent of each other, no wonder Sam had seemed so nervous when he had stepped in to Ravenclaw tower.

This was not a problem that Sherlock could relate to.

None of the other first years had noticed this, of course, they had been to engrossed in listening to a fifth year telling them about Ovumancy, a form of Divination using eggs.

But these secrets Matt and Castiel held...Sherlock had to know what they were.

He wasn't necessarily nosy, he just liked getting to the bottom of things.

                                                      OOO

The rules David were so adamant about all of a sudden made no sense.

First of all, he was only allowed one hour back in time. When he knew for a fact that David went back four hours when he was in first year. When Matt informed him of this, David threatened to lower his time backwards by half an hour.

The second rule was telling anyone of the family secret. They would be the Hogwarts equivalent of "the Unspeakables" Their father was one of those, he never spoke of his job to co-workers, though they were suspicious of him, which was to be expected. Everyone was suspicious of a fellow who worked for the Department of Mysteries.

"What stupid rule," the Doctor scoffed "You told Rose,-"

"I did not!" David's voice squeaked

"-and Martha, and Donna, and Jack"

David grew frustrated, he was just as tired as his brother, and wanted to go to bed. "What about you? Who have you told?"

"What?" Matt scoffed, surprised at his sudden question "I- I haven't told anyone!"

   "What about that one girl..."

"Amy! I haven't told Amy anything!"

"No no, the other one, the Slytherin."

"River?" The Doctor felt heat blossoming in his cheeks, and hoped David wouldn't be able to see him blush in the dim fire .light
