Advice From Your Future Self ~ A Poem

This is a parody of Edgar Allan Poe's The Raven.

When you think someone doesn't like you,
You get mad at everything they do,
But turns out, they don't have a problem with you,
Your thoughts, they were consuming,
Quoth the raven, "Stop assuming!"

You tend to underestimate yourself,
And to overthink the simplest of things,
To the point where you're crying.
Your thoughts should be a celebration.
Quoth the raven, "Use your imagination!"

You love to wait until the last minute to do your work,
Most of the time it's because you're lazy,
Or you want to do something else.
But you have to do your work in order to participate in graduation.
Quoth the raven, "Quit the procrastination!"

You feel like it's your job to make others smile.
Which is okay, there's no problem with that.
But you need to remember your happiness.
So, this may sound sappy,
Quoth the raven, "Remember to be happy!"

You look too far into the future,
Like, way past college.
Let's finish school and college first.
Don't make the future your opponent,
Quoth the raven, "Live in the moment!"

Just because you don't understand something,
Doesn't mean you're stupid.
Remember, we all have our weaknesses.
I mean this with all my heart,
Quoth the raven, "You are smart!"
