Aiden’s POV
I had the hunter right where I wanted her for the moment. Finding her mother dead where I left her made her careless, she had no weapons, how was she going to kill me, with her bare hands? Grief made her slow and uncaring for her own life. I laughed at her response, hilarious. She was pinned under me, she wasn’t going anywhere soon…I felt, but did not see it. A sharp pain sliced down my arm, I quickly glanced down and seen red oozing blood running down my arm from an open wound. She was retracting a sharp knife out of the stinging wound. She was just about to strike again, but I caught her wrist in time. Foolish girl. I careful pried the knife out of her hands.
Err…Let me go, punk!” she screamed, struggling for me to let her wrist go. I could have snapped her shoulder out of its socket, but I wanted her ready to fight the next time we came in contact, very soon. I jumped off of her and landed at the kitchen entrance.
“I will be back, hunter,” I said matter of fact and turned on my heels, unfortunately I was stopped by a sharp pain in my back. I could feel the hilt of a knife sticking out of my shoulder, it hurt. She had thrown a knife into my back, really.
“That’s a warning vampire the next time we meet, one of us will die, so you better kill me now because you will never get another chance like this again,” she stood slowly, in a defensive stance, showing she was not defeated. Yet.
“Oh, we are far from done, you and I,” with that said I disappeared from her sight and was quickly outside her kitchen window listening to her cry to the police that someone had killed her mother. I could hear her cries get louder after she hung up the phone. She was only beginning to feel the pain I felt when Morgan was killed by her hands.
I couldn’t save her, I broke my promise. My love died and with her my passion and caring I once had died with her. Life had no meaning! I didn’t care anymore. The hunter was going to feel that if she isn’t feeling that right now. I was going to give her a fight for her life.
I watched the morning sky as I walked the cool streets, I didn’t have a destination, but I ended up where Morgan had died the night before. I starred at the spot where at the moment busy people walked on and had no clue that a wonderful woman had been killed there last night. I spotted the arrow a few feet away, someone probably kicked it. I picked it up; it had no trace of blood or indications that Morgan was killed by it. The pain and grief was constantly reminding me the woman that I love is no more.
