Shane's POV

Ryland was able to come home about two weeks later, but only after the doctors ran more tests to see if the cancer was completely gone. I knew things were going to be different from now on, and I had to stay by his side when he needed me, and work around the house twice as much. Annie's birthday was coming up, but she didn't want to have any friends over.

"Are you sure, sweetheart?" Ryland asked her. "No friends?"

"I don't wanna invite anyone..." She said. I looked at Ryland, and he shrugged.

"Sweetheart, what about Rosie from down the street?" I asked her. "You're friends with her, aren't you?"

"I don't have any friends..." Annie muttered. Ryland sighed.

    "Anniebear...." Ryland said. "Why?"

"No one wants to be friends with the girl with two daddies....." Our daughter started crying, and gave me a hug. "I'm not popular at school..... no one likes me... and all of the big kids push me down.."

"Honey....." Ryland carefully sat up, and patted the spot next to him on our bed. I sat next to him with Annie on my lap. "Have you tried to tell anyone?"

"I've told my teacher.... She doesn't do anything..."

"Well, Annie.... why haven't you said something to us before?" I asked her. "We're always going to be here to talk..."

"I have a crush on someone......" She said. "But they don't like me..."

"Aw, Anniebear...." Ryland gave her a hug, then left his arm wrapped around both of us. "You're only three, sweetheart.... You have so much time to find someone who will like you..."

"Who is this boy?" I asked.

"Girl...." She started crying harder. "Her name is May..."

"You have a crush on a girl?" Ryland asked, then smiled at me.

"Yeah... Layla says it's wrong to be gay..." Annie sniffled. "She told me it was bad enough I have two daddies..."

"Shane? Do we talk to Mz. Drew about this?" Ryland whispered.

"I think we should talk to someone higher up..." I sighed. "Annie... You know it's okay to like girls, right? No matter what Mz. Drew says, you can love whoever you want. Whether that's a girl.... or a boy.... you may only be turning four, but I had my first crush when I was your age..."

"Really?" She asked, and I nodded. Annie gave me a hug, and seconds after, Reid was crying.

"I'll take care of him.." Ryland said, and kissed me before leaving the room.

"Now who is picking on you?" I asked her once Ryland left. "You said the big kids pick on you..."

"May has an older sister..." Annie said. "Layla... Layla is homophobic...."

"Do you want your dad and I to talk to your teacher?" Ryland asked.

"I don't know..." She cried into my shirt. "I just want to be happy.... why doesn't anyone like me?"

"Sweetheart...." I held her away from my chest to look her in the eyes. "I grew up the same way you have.... but I didn't have two dads. I had divorced parents, and we didn't have much money..." I said. "When I figured out my sexuality, I came out to my mom... and she was accepting. When I came out to my dad....." I showed my daughter the scar I have on my hip. "We were outside... he shoved me... and I fell into the glass door he had that led outside. The glass shattered... and I nearly bled to death..... but I was okay.... and I made it through that.."

"You're happy now?"

"I am..." I said. "I may still have some moments.... but I have you.... and your brother..... and your other dad...."

"Hey..." Ryland walked back in. "I heard you talking about me..." He smiled.

"I was just telling Anniebear the story about my scar.." I said. "The one on my hip."

"Annie.... you're going to be okay...." Ryland sat back down next to me on our bed, and Annie rested her head on his chest. "Shane.. baby.. I think we'll make a meeting with her teacher for tomorrow... and talk to her about the homophobic comments.."

"Can I come?" Annie asked. "I want to say something to her.."

"I'm not sure if that would be the best idea, honey..." I said.

"We will both take you to school tomorrow, and before your class starts, we will talk to your teacher.." Ryland said. "Okay?" Annie nodded. "Do you want to sleep here tonight?"

"I wanna sleep in my bed.. With my night light..." Annie said. It was getting close to Annie's bed time, so we sent her to the bathroom to brush her teeth and waited for her to get into her pajamas, so we could tuck her in.

~

"It's crazy...." Ryland said laying down on our bed. "How grown up Annie is...."

"She's so mature... for only being in preschool..." I said. Ryland wrapped his arms around me, spooning, and he kissed my neck. "She's going to be okay.."

"She does have homosexual father figures to look up to.." He giggled. "Do you think.... maybe she just thinks that's normal? To only be gay?"

"No.." I said. "We had a talk with her before school... remember? She knows she can be whoever she wants to be."

"I guess you're right.."

"She's already her own person..." I smiled. "I love you.."

"I love you, too Shane..." He tried nibbling on my ear, but I squirmed, making him giggle. "Why don't you like that?"

"You're such a pain!" I laughed. "You know that feels weird for me."

"Come on, baby....." Ryland said, starting to nibble on it again. I cringed, and smacked him. "Ow!"

"Don't act like you didn't love that.." I laughed. He blushed then kissed my neck again, this time leaving marks. "We should probably keep it down before the kids hear us.." I said, trying to hold back moans as his hands lowered themselves on my body.

"We'll make it quick..." Ryland whispered seductively in my ear, making me feel weaker and weaker in his arms, and completely under his control. "I just want some time to show my husband just how attracted I am to him..."

~

I woke up with Ryland's arms and legs wrapped around me, and I kissed him gently on the forehead.

"Hey.." He woke up, then smiled. "How'd you sleep?"

"I think we both know..." I said. "We're going to have to talk to Mz. Drew today...."

"Yeah..." He said. "Can we just lay here for a bit first?"

"Annie needs to get ready for school, baby.." I giggled. "And Reid probably needs something..." It was as if our son heard me say his name through the baby monitor because seconds later, there was crying.
