Ryland's POV
After all of the kids left and the party ended, Annie fell asleep on the couch as we cleaned up. Once we were done, she woke up suddenly.
"Daddies.." She said.
"What is it?" I asked. "Bad dream?"
"Uh huh..." Annie started crying. "I need to talk to Mrs. Stevens...."
"I can call her.." Shane said, dialing on his phone. About twenty minutes later, she showed up, with her oldest daughter in the car as well. Wynter gave Annie a hug, and a kiss on the forehead before taking her into a different room while the adults could talk.

"I don't know.." I said. "Shane and I were just cleaning up, and Annie had fallen asleep on the couch. She woke up... from a nightmare.."
"But she wouldn't tell us what the nightmare was about.." Shane finished my sentence.
"There was something I didn't tell you last time we spoke..." She said. "Wynter is LGBT+ as well. She came out as transgender when she was eight, and gynesexual when she was twelve. Wynter was born as Arther Winter Stevens."
"That's why you knew what to do..." Shane said.
"Yeah.." She said. "And that's why I brought Wynter with me. I wanted them to talk more.."
"Mom?" Wynter said. "I think we're ready to talk.." Annie was looking down at her feet as they walked in. "You can say it, okay? I'm right here..." She knelt down to look Annie in the eyes. "Just tell them what you told me..."
"My... My n-ame... is Alex.." Annie said. "I'm four years old.... and a boy.. I'm transgender..." I felt my heart drop as I heard my kid speak so confidently. "I'm not a girl... I'm a boy.."
"Are you sure about this?" I said, and she nodded. "Because... if you want to be a boy, there are things you'd have to go through to be one...."
"I know.... and that costs a lot... right?" She asked, and Shane nodded.
"I'm just now fully transitioned.." Wynter said, her hand on Annie's shoulder. "So.... Alex.... how does it feel?"
"Weird..." Our kid said. "But... good..."
"Shane... I guess our next step.. is getting Annie changed to Alex.." I said, and Shane was trying not to cry. "Baby, it's going to be okay.." I took his hand.
"I know..." Shane said. "But... It's crazy.. It's crazy to hear my own kid.... coming out.." He wiped his eyes. "Now I know how our parents must've felt..."
"And they knew it'd be okay..." I said, and planted a kiss gently on his lips.
"It's not too late to change it today, is it?" We heard Annie ask Wynter.
"I don't think so.." Mrs. Stevens said. "Is that what you want for your birthday?"
"That's all I want..." She said, then hugged Shane and me. "And my daddies... to know I'll always be their baby bear...." We held her tight in our arms, comforting her, and Shane stopped crying. He was smiling.
"I'm proud of you..." Shane said. "For knowing who you are.... at such a young age, too..."
"We never knew who we were until we were much older..." I said. "And... now, we're so much happier...."
"I want to be that happy..." Annie smiled, then yawned. "But I'm really tired right now.."
"Can we take you all out for dinner?" Mrs. Stevens asked. "Wynter and I did that when she changed her name.."
"Can we?" Annie asked. "I'll take a nap first.... but please?"
"We went to Redwing's!" Wynter said. "They know us there... my girlfriend's older brother works there."
"Sounds perfect.." Shane said. "Um... That's actually the place we went to... when I proposed.." He slipped his arm around my waist.
"Perfect.." I said, my head resting on my husband's shoulder.

Our first stop was the courthouse to get Annie's information changed on the birth certificate. Annie had fallen asleep in the car, so we left her with Wynter and Mrs. Stevens while we went inside.
"Okay.... Now which one of you are the birth father?" The lady asked, and I raised my hand. "Who is the mother, or is she a legal guardian?" Shane handed her the surrogate papers.
"Stephanie was our surrogate, but we are the legal guardians. She is not a legal guardian.." He explained.
"Alright.." The lady smiled. "Both of you sign here, and Ryland, you will sign here as you are the birth father. How old is your child?"
"Turned four today.." I said.
"Then we won't have her sign..." She said. "Now, with my signature, and a copy of your marriage license.... congratulations.. Annabelle Marie Yaw is now Alex Miles Yaw. It's a boy.."
"Alex will be so happy..." Shane said, smiling at me, then turned to the lady. "Thank you for helping us.."
"It's my pleasure.." She said.

We made it to Redwing's, and woke Alex up. Shane wanted us to give the news before we ordered, so then Alex could celebrate.
"Hey Drew!" Wynter said. "Table for five, please."
"Right this way, Wynnie. How are you?" Wynter gave him a hug, then introduced him.
"This is Drew. I'm dating his sister, Rylea.." She said. "Drew, you remember my mom.. and this is Shane and Ryland Yaw from YouTube.."
"Oh! Rylea watches your videos.." He said to Shane.
"And this little sweetheart... is Alex. He turned four today.."
"Annie? Your first born is trans?" Drew asked us. I nodded. "That's so cool.... and at such a young age.."
"It's very new to us all. Alex just told us tonight, and we went to the courthouse today.." I said.
~
Drew brought us our food, and Alex kept asking why we went to the courthouse. He didn't know we were going to change Annie to Alex so quickly.
"So... I'm a boy now?" Alex asked.
"According to this..." Shane showed him the new birth certificate, and his eyes glowed. "Your name is Alex Miles Yaw. You're starting your transition.."
"Thank you..." He hugged us both together, tightly holding us in his arms.
"We love you.. and we want the best for you.." Shane said, kissing Alex on the forehead, then turned to kiss me.
"I love you, Shane.." I smiled. "I'm so lucky to have you.."
"I'm the lucky one.." He said. "I have you... alive and healthy... and two beautiful sons.." Alex smiled as he heard Shane say two sons, and not a son and daughter.
