TMNT: Blue

Chapter sixteen

Raphael's Point of View:

"Are ya in pain?" I asked as Blue looked back up at me.

"Headache," my mate agreed as he rubbed at his temples, "I've been dealing with it since yesterday afternoon and it won't go away."

"That long?" Donnie asked as he leaned down and checked Leo's pulse as my mate nodded, "I need to check your blood pressure. I'll be right back."

"Why ya got ta do that?" I demanded feelin' nervous all of a sudden.

"I just need to check and make sure that Leo's blood pressure is at normal levels," Donnie called over his shoulder as he walked away, "Me checking your mate's blood pressure is perfectly normal."

"Don't be such a worry-wart," Blue sighed as he rubbed at his temples again, "I've just got a headache and Donnie said that he was doing a normal check up."

"Sure, Blue," I lied as my mate grinned up at me.

Normal my ass. Somethin' was up and I knew it. I watched anxiously as Donnie returned and placed a blood pressure cuff around my mate's arm and began ta listen with tha stethoscope. Donnie took his damn sweet time and I felt like knockin' him one for takin' so long ta let us know what was goin' on.

"Are you having any other symptoms?" Donnie asked as he flicked his eyes at me with a small frown.

Fuck. I knew it. Leo wasn't ever intended ta carry young. I knew eventually somethin' was goin' ta pop up and I had been dreadin' tha day when it would happen. God dammit!

"Visions a little blurry," Blue admitted, "What's wrong, Donnie? Is there something wrong with my babies?"

"I think you might be having an issue with preeclampsia," our brother sighed out as my mate tensed up and I held back a snarl of anger, "Stay calm, Leo. Preeclampsia is a pregnancy-related blood circulation problem that causes high blood pressure which affects some organs and is extremely common. Raph is going to get you into the lab and I am going to get some medicine in you to bring down your blood pressure since it is a little high. You and the Imps will be fine since I will monitor you and head off the condition getting worse, okay?"

"Get worse?" Blue questioned as he rested a hand on his extended abdomen, "What will that do to my babies?"

"I won't let anything get any worse so be calm. The twins will be fine and so will you," Donnie urged as my mate looked at him worriedly, "Raph, carry Leo to my lab."

"Right," I agreed as I heard tha "now" in his voice and hurried ta do as Donnie asked of me, "Come on, Blue. Everythin' is goin' ta be okay. Donnie's got it covered and he has never let any of us down before."

Blue nodded, but still looked frightened as I lifted him and carried him inta Donnie's lab. My younger brothers and I had all worked on gettin' a special infirmary set up for when my mate was ready ta give birth a couple of months ago. I laid Leo on tha pristine, hospital bed that we had refurbished and settled him comfortably against tha raised back.

"Stay with me," Blue ordered as he gripped my hand tightly.

"Ain't ever leavin' ya alone," I soothed as my mate nodded still lookin' tense, "Hurry up, Donnie, all of this is scarin' Blue. Do your Donnie stuff so Leo can calm down."

"What's going on?" Mikey asked from tha doorway with a concerned frown.

"Leo is experiencing a pretty standard issue with pregnancy," Donnie answered as he set up an IV inta tha back of my mate's other hand and inserted some type of medicine into tha bag of fluid, "He'll be fine."
