Author's Note: Based on Nyarlathotep, written in 1920. My personal favorite story by Lovecraft, and the inspiration for Dream Theater's song The Dark Eternal Night.
Coming from the land of the Pharaohs
From the land of pyramids in their rows
Crawling Chaos in the shape of a man
Haunter of the Dark
Inside the dreams of the sane and mad
Upon the face of the world
The Black Pharaoh leaves his mark
Robed in the magnificence of old
Nyarlathotep
Tens of thousands follow in his step
To him their souls are sold
Risen up from twenty-seven centuries
Beneath the sickly moon's icy breeze
Whispered voice of a foreign world
Haunter of the Dark
Inside the dreams of the sane and mad
Upon the face of the world
The Black Pharaoh leaves his mark
His words are of the wise
Of science and philosophy
Electricity and psychology
See the light in his eyes
Some laugh and mock the Pharaoh
Call him a liar and a trickster
But they come under his burning sight
And are lost into the silent night
No, no, no
Haunter of the Dark
Inside the dreams of the sane and mad
Upon the face of the world
The Black Pharaoh leaves his mark
Haunter of the Dark
Inside the dreams of the sane and mad
Upon the face of the world
The Black Pharaoh leaves his mark
No, no, no
Death and doom have come
The Crawling Chaos takes control
I stand and watch, tired and numb
Nyarlathotep
