Boooored

"I'm boooored." Thomas groaned, lifting his head from it's spot on the armrest of the chair. "Come on, kiddo. Why don't we go outside and make our own fun?" Patton tried to add a bit of fun to the atmosphere but his idea was met with disapproving groans. "Pat, it is eight pm." Logic stated. Pat looked outside to see that it was already dark. He thought for a while.

"Record a video?"

"Too tired."

"Watch a movie?"

"We can never choose what to watch."

"Read a book?"

He sounded desperate so the others nodded. "Fine."

They had decided that Thomas and Patton would get the snacks, Princey and Virgil would gather every available pillow and blanket and pile them together in a nest-like thing and Logan would 'gather suitable reading material'.

Logan popped up in the large library, quickly scanning the shelves. He knew that he had a while due to the inevitable arguments that would break out between Virgil and Roman, and the fact that Patton and Thomas would probably eat the snacks before he got back, meaning that they would have to make more.

He walked past the different isles and picked appropriate books for each of the 'sides'. Fantasy for Princey, generic teen fiction for Pat and some sort of murder story for Virgil. He was on his way to the scientific section (looking for something about bio-engineering) when he saw it. A huge, leather-bound book with large, gold writing and a star carved into the centre. Pausing his search for the scientific section, he hesitantly heaved the large book, along with the handful of previously chosen stories, and appeared back in Thomas's living room. Virgil stared at the large book in Logan's hands. "What is..."

"This book seems to be new. I have not seen it before in the library." Logan opened the large book, dropping the others in the process. However, he didn't notice. He flipped it open to a random page and read a short segment in his head. "While he reads through that, in gonna grab a snack." Virgil jumped up and headed to he kitchen, eyes set on a freshly baked batch of cookies. "Fruit!" Pat shouted after him as he passed, walking out of the kitchen. "Ooh. Whatcha got there, Logan?"

Lo felt a head leaning on his shoulder as Pat read a short passage out loud. The text seemed strange, almost cryptic. Roman, who had previously been pulling blankets and pillows from Thomas' bed to make the fort, sat patiently on the floor, listening to the familiar text. He muttered a 'hey' to Virgil, who reappeared in the room, holding an apple which he waved in front of a pleased dad's face.

As the father finished reading the strange text, Virgil took a bite out of the fruit in his hand. "Sounds like nonsense to me." He muttered. "Don't talk with your mouth full." Pat scolded Virgil, who rolled his eyes and swallowed. He stood up, apple still in his hand, to get a closer look at the book. Suddenly, he gasped, collapsing onto the floor.

As the others tended to him, Lo looked at the large book in his hands and noticed that a glow was emitting from it. The words seemed to be moving around the antique pages. It shimmered and sparks suddenly shot out from the pages, flying around the room. He dropped the book in shock as they all turned their heads to watch the miniature fireworks display. The sparks covered every inch of their view until they couldn't even see each other. Princey gazed in awe, somehow removing his attention from the unconscious anxiety.

However, all it took was a blink and he suddenly found himself in the centre of a path, in the middle of nowhere, a sword in his hand and nobody else around. "What on Earth..?"
