I quickly bolted out of the fancy hotel. I couldn't stand being at that party anymore. I just wanted to get home and burry myself underneath all of my blankets and never come out ever again. I never wanted to see anyone again or leave my comfy house. I was stupid and should have never gone to that party.
There was a cool wind outside that blew past every once in awhile, but I didn't care because I was steaming hot from anger and all of my emotions were just pouring out of me. My head was beginning to pound as I let out a heartbreaking sob. I wrapped my arms around myself as I started the walk home.
It took me about twenty minutes to walk back to my house through the dark night. It was humid out, so when I finally got back my hair was a mess and my dress was stuck to my body. It was a hot night to be walking home even though there was a cool breeze, so that didn't help much. Everything ached and by the time I got to the end of my street I was almost dragging myself to the steps of my house.
I walked up to my front door, only just realizing now that I didn't have my key. Since I had gone with my dad to the party I figured we would be coming back together, and that's why I didn't bring my key. It was sitting securely beside my purse on the night table beside my bed. Knowing that I had forget my key probably frustrated me even more than it should have.
I tried fixing my hair as I slumped down against the door, sitting on one of the steps. It was some time around eleven when I had left the party so it was probably getting close to midnight now.
It was pitch black out except for the lights from the few houses on the streets and the glow of the moon from above.
I leaned my throbbing head back against the door as I used the back of my hand to dry the tears off my face.
The nearest house to us was right beside, and all the rest of them in the street were back down the hill. These two houses sat lonely by themselves on the top of the hill. Apparently, the owner before had built these houses with his father. His father had lived in the one we are in now, and the one beside it was where his son lived.
The father had grown very ill and last I heard the whole family had moved back home to be closer to their other relatives. That's how my dad ended up buying this one house, except the other house had been up for sale ever since we moved in. Until the other day when I noticed a large, red, sold sign up.
I haven't seen the people moving in, but my dad did tell me that a moving truck dropped off many of their things. They were pretty much move in ready; except no one has showed up.
When my dad had asked the movers who it was moving in, they told him it was a small family. I wondered if there was going to be a new baby and that's why they moved, or a change in lifestyle, or even a newly married couple.
However, they probably wouldn't be moving in for awhile. Plus, I thought it would be kind of weird that as soon as I looked out my one window I would see right into the next doors house. My room was positioned at the back of the house. It had two windows, one very large one facing out onto the water, and the other one was facing a window of the room next door.
I stared at the house beside ours. Somebody had come over earlier and planted small, blue flowers out the front. They were a mixture of royal blue and baby blue flowers, with a bright yellow bud in the middle. They were gorgeous flowers, and it wouldn't surprise me if the family was moving in soon.
I closed my sore, red eyes as I tried not to think about the horrible night I'm having. However, it's something I know I won't be able to forget for awhile now. I pretty much embarrassed myself in front of everyone, caused a huge scene, and ruined Mark's party.
