The evening event being held on the first floor of a new chain of hotels was something I would have never attend, let alone be invited to. It was for those high class business men and women, the ones who always had more money than they did brains. The ball gowns, fancy suits and sparkling wine was never part of my lifestyle. However, tonight it was supposed to be different.

Everyone was here to celebrate the grand opening of a new hotel that went up right in the centre of the beach downtown. Of course this big building would draw the attention of tourists, and our sleepy town would soon be bursting with life.

However, I enjoyed our quiet town.

I never liked the big city, and when my dad had told me we would be moving out to the sleepy town of Hollow Harbor I was more than overjoyed to make the move with him. The little town had many colorful houses all set beside the sea and clustered together. No house was too far from town, and everything was in walking distance.

My new house was set along the beach about twenty minutes walking distance away from town. It was everything I expected it to be.

My dad had opened up his own bake shop right along the shoreline. It just so happened to be a few paces down the beach from where the new hotel was built in.

I was surprised when my dad had come home early one night from one of his shifts claiming he had big news for me. He pulled out the little, white envelope and tossed it to me. I read through the letter several times, making sure I had actually been reading it right.

The business owner of the hotel had asked my dad if he could make dozens of cookies for the upcoming celebration. My dad spent countless nights trying out different recipes until he had perfected each and every cookie.

Now why my dad wanted me to accompany him at the big celebration is still a mystery to me, but here I was, standing alone in the middle of the crowded first floor of the hotel.

My dad had met the man who had opened the new hotel just minutes ago, claiming how excited he was for him and his family. There was a quick introduction between me, and the business man who I believe said his name was Mark, before my dad and him hurried off to try the cookies. Thus, leaving me by myself in the middle of the crowd.

I was beginning to feel a little conscious of myself because every time someone walked pass they would stare at me. Maybe they were looking at me because my dress didn't fit, or maybe because they could tell I wasn't rich like them.

I kept pulling at the hem of my dress, twisting it in between my fingers as I avoided everyones gazes. While all the women were dressed in long satin dresses and sweetheart necklines I was dressed in a short, maroon colour dress with a steep backing. I had on a pair of black heel boots that I could tell were frowned upon by some of the women. Nothing special had been done to my curly blonde hair, but after seeing all of these gorgeous women I wish I had put more attention into my whole outfit.

"You need to come see this, boo," I heard my dad call before his mop of dark brown curls appeared in front of me. He grabbed my hand, pulling me towards the table full of treats. His green eyes sparkled with excitement.

I smiled at how happy my dad was right now. The last few years hadn't been easy on either him or I, so seeing him get excited like this made me feel excited as well. Of course, I will always be his little boo.

"Look at how many cookies have gone already!" He exclaimed, pointing to the table where only several brown cookies with white swirls sat. He was right, more than half of his cookies were gone already.

"Do you think I should have made more? I don't know boo, maybe I should have made an extra batch. I didn't think they would be this popular."

"Dad," I smiled at him as I held onto both his forearms. I then smiled as I said, "they're great."
