The whole class' attention was now on her

The whole class' attention was now on her. Nora flushed at the walkway that had been paved out for her by the separating class members. Her eyes skirted across the people in the group as they whispered in each others ear, either snickering or jeering. It took her a minute to find Cindy as she made her way through the crowd. The girl nodded at her, telling her in a silent gesture that it was okay. Behind her stood Peter and Ned, both frowning at the scene in front of them. Ned looked more concerned than Peter though, he looked quite distracted.

From what she could see, Peter was as white as a sheet, a sweat beginning to form on his brow. She would've made it known that she was worried for him, but she was at the tour guides side in a matter of seconds. She didn't deal with conflict well, maybe it was the result of having a police captain for a father, but when she came up to the man, she gulped. He was smiling, but something told her she wouldn't be.

"Don't worry," he soothed, raising his hands a bit. "You aren't in trouble."

That floored her. She stood there, mouth opening and closing before she blurted. "I'm not?"

"No, absolutely not. You seemed to have left something back at reception. Your phone, I believe?"

Nora frowned at him, she didn't remember leaving her phone at reception. Her hand flew into her pocket instinctually to find that the man was right, her phone wasn't in it's usual place. She must've left it on the desk when she was picking up her visitors badge. It was odd that they didn't just bring it to her. "Don't worry, it's safe and sound." the way he said it shot shivers down her spine, almost as if she were the 'it' he was talking about. "You can come with me, we can get your phone back in no time."

Still, the whole class was staring at her, now wondering why she was so nervous. She was acting as if she did do something wrong. The man went to put a hand on her shoulder, when Mr. Tully stepped forward. "I'm not sure I feel comfortable with you leaving with her without me present."

"Sir, I assure you, she won't be two minutes. Reception is just an elevator ride away."

"Which is why me coming with her isn't a bad idea."

The man bristled, but he took a breath, trying to keep his polite demeanour in check. "Of course, sir. Follow me." Mr. Tully came to her side, waiting for the man to lead them to the elevator. The teacher kept an eye on him, waiting for him to do something that would confirm his suspicions that this wasn't just about the teens phone. Nora, on the other hand, was too nervous to think. All her body was telling her to do was run far away because this scientist had seen what she could do. Did he want to collect her, kidnap her, experiment on her? She knew that if she ran, security would only think she had done something bad, which she didn't. All she tried to do was heal her fellow classmate, something she had done before. The class' whispers could be heard from behind them as they walked away from the group. Nora clenched her fist, wishing the ground could open up and swallow her whole. Right now, she wished she had taken up her sisters offer to go to those self defence classes at the leisure centre down town.
